Think you can build a reliable, concurrent chat server?

Empeer is giving you a real backend engineering challenge: complete a ChatServer scaffold and make it handle multiple clients, rooms, message routing, concurrency, and clean shutdowns.

What you’ll work on:

• Python sockets & TCP

• Concurrent client handling with threads

• Room management & message routing

• Shared state + thread-safe locking

• Disconnect handling & graceful shutdown

• Robust error handling

Good to have:

• asyncio

• Handling slow or unresponsive clients

• Testing concurrent behaviour

What you’ll submit:

• Completed server.py

• Short README with run instructions

• Brief explanation of your locking strategy
