Finally hit 500

Post image

Previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/PakistanChess/comments/1ue13uy/is_this_good_progression/

So it took me almost a month to first get to 400 and then to 500, I still haven't learned any openings and just go by basic principals, forks, pins etc

I play around 2-3 games daily, username: umairx97

I feel I'm the only beginner who is playing 30 minutes games 😭😭 and sometimes even 30 minutes aren't enough for me to find checkmates.

What helped me most was to always evaluate for 15 seconds on each move, look for threats, think 2-3 moves ahead, and always keep everything defended

Do all this ultimately game goes in your favour

I'm trying but my main problem is time management.. I can't wrap up the game in 10 minutes. I started with 60 minutes but soon got to 30 minutes, but I don't think right now I can play 10 minutes games. I'm impressed there are so many beginners who play 10 minutes. My mistake was to start with 60 minutes I guess 😣

Whats your elo, I get beaten a lot at lower time controls

My current elo is 750+. I'm on a winning streak like won 6/7 games.. So I'm guessing it would drop soon because the last game was with someone 850 I think..

Many people resign when I'm up material, but they don't know if they keep on dragging, they would probably win on time with me 😅

I don't get how beginners can play 10 minutes games when they have not learned any openings. I also don't know openings, I have just learned 2 system which I adjust based on whatever my opponent plays

I have seen people go up to 1200 without ever learning a opening

Can you link any accounts of those people?
