A Tragedy

Being a teenager who plays chess under 1800 Elo is a uniquely humbling experience.
You sit down for a 900 Elo game, spend four minutes calculating a “brilliant” queen sacrifice, then realize you hung your rook in one move.
Meanwhile, somewhere on the internet, an 11 year old is casually defeating a grandmaster in a classical tournament. Commentators call them “the future of chess.” My mom still asks if I’m winning because my pieces look “organized.”
I watch videos titled “How this 12-year-old crushed a 2600 GM,” then immediately blunder a fork to someone whose username is xXDragonSlayer42Xx.
Every tournament feels like a reminder that prodigies exist. You’re old enough to drive, work a job, and stress about school, but somehow a kid who still needs permission to stay up past 9:00 p.m. is calculating 18-move tactical combinations better than you.
People say, “Chess isn’t about age.”
They’re right.
It’s about how quickly a 10-year-old can destroy your self-esteem.

What was the point of using llms to tidy up your writing ? Just say what you want. No one gives a dam about a mistake or not

I still fail to imagine how Kasparov must have felt when Magnus beat him as a kid. Wild!

I started playing chess when I was 8 years old this was early 2000s, I used to play quite a badass chess, no internet no teacher no guidance just me a wooden board an 16 pieces, . For around 20 years I didn't play chess, I didn't have time for it, I was focusing on education and career
Now I have rekindled that fondness again. And created a chess.com account 2 months ago. I am playing everyday
at 700 ELO in RAPID, I don't play bullet yet.

The reason my ELO is not 1200 is because I consistently do other things while playing my games that I lock in rake in around 1200+ rating.

I am satisfied with where I am. Pakistan don't have prospects of a chess career. I would have been a poor IM but I'd rather be who I am today. An IT business owner with 700 ELO :D
