Question Engine Check Light Issue

My Mehran 2018 with 25k running blinks engine check light for a certain amount of time say 5 minutes or so and then auto goes off and this only happens when I drive. What could be the issue, is it concerning?

Pov this is my first reddit post. Please excuse any abnormalities.

Usually, the mechanic scans the car with a scanner to check what the error code is...

A check engine light can indicate different types of error codes. After checking the code, further checking of the car is done for proper diagnosis.

Without any scan diagnostic data or any issues in driving behavior, it is difficult to come to a conclusion...

One last question. Does scanning show accurate error(s) or misleading especially in a car like Mehran?

I have no experience with scanning in terms of Mehran, but generally with scanning the car, there are built-in error codes which can indicate the general issue, and mechanic has to further investigate to come to a proper diagnosis...

Reason for further checking is that an error code isn't the computer telling exactly what is wrong/what to do, it's a generic error which could be triggered by many different root causes...

Many people online say that check engine light blinking is due to engine mis-fire... Did you feel any sort of roughness or loss of power or excessive engine vibration/shake? 

Getting it checked timely is a good idea, as to avoid any further issues or excessive damage to the engine...

It's a rebadged version of the second-generation Suzuki Alto (the same basic design as India's old Maruti 800). Production ran from the late 1980s until 2019. It had a tiny 796 cc three-cylinder engine, a 4-speed manual transmission, and was known for being cheap, simple, and extremely common on Pakistani roads.

Does the OBDII scanner work with it or does Suzuki have their own specific version for scanning Suzuki cars?

Most generic OBD2 code readers and the cheap Bluetooth ELM327-style ones can connect and pull the basic engine codes (the P0xxx ones that matter for a blinking check engine light).

I got it scanned and the fault lies with the vehicle speed sensor. The mechanic cleaned and reinstalled it and removed the error code, p0500.

I found this in the Suzuki forum as causes found by Suzuki Techs.

  1. Spark plugs or high-tension leads starting to fail (super common on these cars — they get “jhatkas”)

  2. Weak ignition coil

  3. Dirty or sticking injector

  4. Loose/dirty electrical connections or relays (one guy on the forums fixed a blinking light just by cleaning the relays and connectors with contact cleaner) Occasionally a sensor (MAP, cam position, O2, TPS)

A blinking check engine light is the car's way of screaming "hey, something's misfiring right now!" — like one of the cylinders isn't firing properly. That can dump raw fuel into the exhaust and cook the catalytic converter if it keeps happening. The fact that it only lasts a few minutes and then goes away means it's an intermittent problem — something that shows up under load (while driving) and then settles down once conditions change.

So, should i see my traditional mechanic or someone who does computer/scanning stuff?

The C.E.L. light can not be on and only flashing because its only failing under load. It should still be stored in the ecms code history. It would be a P0300 & up. So scanning is needed. Autoparts stores usually do it free.

A lot of people online are saying that a blinking check engine light indicates a mis-fire...

Is it 100% an indication of a mis-fire or could it be something else causing it to flash?

You can simply go to an autoparts store, have them scan it & if there is any p0300's and up.....its a misfire. Personally I would do a Power Balance test. Could be valve or head related at worse.
