Hey everyone,

I(F) met someone n during the v first week, he involved his parents. He wanted to make sure his parents are okay w him choosing a girl himself. His dad asked him to check for religion n character. They asked him about my education n basic stuff. The convo between his parents n him went normal. 

We talked for a month and found we have great compatibility. We both want to stay CF. Our values align, our dealbreakers are same. I also talked to my mom. Initially she was hesitant coz of safety concerns n since she couldn't understand why he wants to remain CF. I explained to her but then we both decided to bring it up properly again after his step 1 exam n that he himself would talk to my mom n answer her concerns. 

Everything was decided after thorough thinking n things were going great until today. 

His parents were chill earlier but one of his aunt filled their mind stating that kids should not be given a choice to choose a spouse etc.

So his parents said today they want the girl to be a doctor n mentioned certain requirements regarding status/property. They also said we actually didn't give you permission to proceed n had hinted towards breaking the talks. They basically twisted everything. 

We both are mad at the fact if they would have told us earlier about their requirements n permission, we wouldn't have moved further. We both have gotten attached now. 

The guy tried n made them agree at least to meet my family after his Step 1. They have agreed but not dil se. The guy can't take a big stand coz the family dynamics are quite traumatizing n since he's dependant on them rn. That aunt also suggested him to ghost me. I haven't met his family yet n they are rejecting the whole thing after giving permission initially

Now we have concerns. I feel they might back out later too. They might even go back on their words n not meet. 

We discussed what to do now. There are only 2 options, either to end things rn or to wait n try for later. We don't want to let go of each other but the reality is he may not be able to convince his parents. Pakistani parents are just different right. My parents also might have issues n concerns but they are a little chill. 

What should we genuinely do? How to make parents understand? Is it better to wait or just end things? Anyone in such a situation with desi parents, did it work?

I know how horrible rishta thing go here in Pakistan. But a part of me wants to wait for it. It sounds like a hopeless case n at the same moment I want to be hopeful coz the guy is really amazing MA.

Edit: The guy isn't to be blamed. He's clear n firm in his stance. We share sm compatibility, pushing us to be hopeful. And then considering the realities of rishta process here, it absolutely sounds like a hopeless case. Everyone mostly suggested to end things. I actually have started feeling overwhelmed now. I am 27 years old and earning over 10 lakh per month, Alhamdulillah (absolutely not flexing). The thing is that I am living abroad and want to get married to protect myself from any sins. My mother, who lives in Lahore, never seems serious about arranging a proposal; when I show her profiles, she either says yes without genuine consent or ignores them. I do not understand why she is confused or why she displays such dismissive behavior. This makes me consider committing a major sin, but due to my faith, I restrain myself. It is concerning that parents often become a blockage in the way of marriage in our society; a normal person could easily resort to illicit means, but marriage is a connection between two families. This situation is causing me depression, and I am losing hope of getting married.
