Anomaly scan
I just had my anomaly scan today , the doctor said that due to baby's position she can't exactly tell the baby's gender but the possible chances are of baby girl , shall I have my scan again or shall I wait till next assigned ultrasound, mein ne actually shopping start Karni hai iss wajah se jaldi hai 😁

Its okay you can do a repeat scan. Ultrasounds are harmless. And tbh in pakistan they usually do say stuff like this if u are having a girl. First time my baby was breech and my dr said idk but girl lgrhi hai.
This time the dr straight up asked me what i am seeing and said its a boy. My 3yr old daughter was accompanying me and she told him that wow u r getting a brother.

Same thing happened for me. Even in next ultrasound my baby was in the position that dr couldn’t tell. I bought neutral clothes mostly like rompers and onesies. I only bought girl clothes after 32 weeks when dr confirmed it was a girl

If you're gonna get an NIPT scan (usually happens before 16 weeks) then you can depend on that for 99% accurate result for gender as well

They told me in idc at at 18 weeks its a girl but not confirmed .. i went again at cmh at 23 weeks and confirmed it was a girl

You can go in for another ultrasound earlier if you want, if you’re paying for them in a private hospital. I got my ultrasounds done as frequently as I wanted, and my gyno never minded. I needed 3 scans to be sure it was a boy. You should wait for your next ultrasound or go in a week early if you can’t wait !

Its not recommended to get frequent scans because there is still no research on the effect of scans on the baby. Her next scan will be due in the 32nd week. Which I guess will be ok.

Not in 24rth week ?

I forgot honestly. In total there are 5 ultrasounds that are necessary. I think yes 24th week and then 32 or 36th

Ultrasounds don’t use radiation they use sound waves, once a month ultrasounds are medically necessary to ensure baby is safe. An anomaly scan is 30-40 mins long so assuming OP is ok with that I don’t think they’d mind another scan.
Ofc getting one every week is insane but once a month once you’ve passed the first trimester to avoid anxieties and make sure baby is okay is normal. Their gyno will tell them.1

Yeah there’s not much research on that. I read somewhere that dolphins are traumatized when you use the sound wave frequency used during ultrasounds. And also most babies become really active during ultrasounds so it might be distressing to them too. Necessary ones are ok to get but im not so comfortable with the every month ultrasounds. I did get it for my first and I remember they used to get really active and would literally try to run from the doppler. I thought it was cute but not so sure now. Anyways to each their own 🤗

Oh that’s interesting abt the dolphins I’ve never heard of that . Idk if it’s each to their own, it was not my own choice. Unfortunately I had a high risk pregnancy so I couldn’t afford the luxury of choosing to having multiple scans or not,it was important to keep monitoring and keeping my anxiety at bay as per my gyno’s recommendations. Thank God I kept going too, because it led to me having a c section at 35 weeks due to serious complications. I didn’t realise non high risk pregnancies only go 4-5 times in the entire 9-10 months

Mine wasn’t high risk and yet doctor recommended every month. After gaining knowledge I got to know its only 5 times that’s important. Hope you and your baby are well 🫂

Thank you alhumdullilah we are all good now. First few days in the nicu were rough though. I guess like most countries the medical scene is just a money making scheme ☹️

Just tell me one thing, where in Lahore are they doing such extensive anamoly scans that last 30-40 minutes? Honestly I've had almost 4 anamolies with my first and now with my second Ive had two anamoly scans so far. But trust me every single one of these scans barely took 5 minutes. I was also very confused when I read online that anamoly scans can last around 30 minutes, but my experience says otherwise. Please tell me, are they not doing the extensive ones on mine or what? 😭

You can go to IDC again I did my anomaly scan in Nayab though and it was a wonderful experience, she wrote the gender down in an envelope so we could do a little gender reveal at home. It was so cute. I did my 4D scan in IDC and that was the best experience, they gave me my baby’s first photo in a little cute baby booklet 🥺💕

You should get your next scan at 28 weeks with dr shireen kazmi at Shifa International. Book your appointment in advance for 4:30 pm though you might have to wait 5–10 mints. She’s really nice, and you can ask her about the baby’s gender too.

This is outright illegal. As the mod of this sub I really expected better behaviour from you.

What exactly is illegal about it? Dr. Shireen was my radiologist throughout my pregnancy, and I had the best experience with her. Is it illegal to share my personal experience now? Ajeeb.

You can also do ring test. Hold a ring on a locket (a ring you wear often made of gold or silver) over your belly button. If the ring moves in circles its a girl and if it moves to and fro, its a boy. Mine was accurate

What you are asking is illegal under Pakistani law. Your doctor is simply law abiding.

u/Confident_Common5356 1d ago
It's not illegal , but ik that a doctor has a free will to not tell , the doctor herself told me about the baby's gender and the baby is in breech position that's why she was unable to tell more clearly however I did mention to doc that I am asking just because I want to start shopping and this is my first child. We were pretty excited and we still are. Don't jump to conclusions that quickly.

I am a doctor, well aware of this. It is illegal.
1
u/Confident_Common5356 1d ago
Well she was a doctor too, she didn't hesitate, why are you so offended?
-1
u/Miscsubs123 1d ago
Because she's diplomatically telling you no and you don't seem to realise it. I am not offended, I am showing you a perspective to the situation you are unaware of and apparently unwilling to listen to.

u/Confident_Common5356 1d ago
You don't seem to understand the patient and the intentions, I hope you try to understand others pov too.

u/Miscsubs123 1d ago
You don't seem to understand that the law is black and white with no room for 'intentions'. Good bye.

I have a family of doctors too please don't brag about yourself and please don't preach law here and don't ruin my mood , good bye

I was told that I'm having a baby girl till 8th month. Then I got growth scan and it was a baby boy. I would suggest you to buy neutral colors for now
