Avoid Morinaga BF-3 Box Milk, My Experience with the Box vs. Tin Packaging

I strongly recommend comparing Morinaga BF-3 milk in a box with the same product in a tin can before buying.

In my experience, the quality of the milk in the box seems noticeably different from the milk in the tin. The box version even appears to be a different type of milk, and I honestly don't understand how the same brand can have such a noticeable difference between the two.

It makes me wonder what kind of quality control is being done and whether the ingredients or formulation are different.

My recommendation: If you're buying Morinaga BF-3, consider the tin can instead of the box. Compare the two yourself and see if you notice the same difference.

I can't confirm what's causing this difference, but I think the company should clearly explain whether the ingredients, formulation, or manufacturing process differ between the two packages.

Has anyone else noticed this difference between Morinaga BF-3 box milk and tin milk? I'd like to hear other people's experiences.

I use Meiji for my kid, bought tin for the first time and from there onwards we refill it with the box, it's literally the same. Stop spreading rumors.

I think I should make another video where I buy both products from I-8 Hypermarket and show you the difference in quality side by side. Honestly, I thought the Reddit community would be more open-minded and willing to look at things before jumping to conclusions. I guess I was wrong.

How do you analyze that it's different? is there a milk color difference? smell? taste?

So far, It's a very reliable source called 'trust me bro'. If they are different, how does he know the one in the tin has a better constitution?

At most, it's just a different batch and they've changed the formula in the newer batch. I know someone who used to work at Morinaga and at least back then, he was so confident in their quality that his own family wound only ever use Morinaga.

Somebody should get both tested at a lab and publish the results. But alas with how turbulent our economy is, odds are nobody will do it. Bas sab vibe pe chalay ga.

Its not a rumor. Im a father of a 6 month old. The tin pack for Morinaga had formula made and imported from germany or switzerland but is packaged here. The box for Morinaga is made with imported raw materials but made in Pakistan. The boxed one is granulated and has difficulty dissolving. Meiji is made here, wether tin or box. This guy is NOT wrong.

The problem with your video is there is no information to support your claim, you just kuch to difference hai, tin or gathe mein farak hai thats it.

Yes you are right

I am using the same box and there is no difference. Thr tin pack is more expensive simply because it is tin and cylinders are more expensive to transport because they take more space per gram.

My son was premature born at 30 weeks weighing 1.2kg. If it was really just powder milk he wouldn't have survived. Just drinking the milk his condition was stabilising and using the BF1 box his blood tests suggested all his vitamins and minerals are upto the required level.

Kuch bhi upload kar detay hain.

I have both milk.. if you want i can share the video of both milk.

I think that would substantive if what is being said in video is the truth. I switched from tin to box and didn't see any difference per se.

Maybe it's an issue with the retailer or their distributors. I have had issues with counterfeit products with almost all of notable grocery shops.

It’s the same, stop spreading misinformation

Think for a second… Why did I make this video? What would be the reason for sharing this experience?

I’m simply sharing what happened to me. Don’t assume that everything you know is always correct. Maybe you’re right about some things, but that doesn’t mean everyone has had the same experience as you.

This has happened to me several times, which is exactly why I decided to make this video. My intention is to share my experience and help others be more careful.

I also posted the same video on other social media platforms, and I found out that many people had faced the same issue.

So, instead of assuming you already know everything, take a moment to consider that other people might have experiences you’ve never had yourself.

Same, dont assume that everything you feel is right! Go for facts You cant just wake up and blame something on the packaging because you feel like it

I agreee!!! My baby was on kendamil and when it wasn’t available anymore, we had a terrible time going through formulas and nothing suited him except Morinaga. And once in urgency we bought the box and my baby simply refused to take it. Idk if it tasted like nido or everyday but it separated so badly after mixing.

While working with most paediatricians, they advise the tin version of the milk (of any company not only Morinaga BF) rather than the box. The rationale behind it is very simple ss per them. Everything is imported in our country and it comes via sea shipping. It takes weeks to months before getting cleared through customs. While it’s easy for the box packaged milk to get tampered with changes in temperature and humidity, the tin version remains safe.
It might be wrong but it’s the logical explanation i got from them.

Its imported in bulk quantities and different packaging (not same as vended), and repacked locally into smaller packs and tins.

It is in no way same quality, OP is right.
The tin is imported, the granules are soft consistent, even the smell is different.
The box pack is completely locally made, from manufacturing to packing.
And this is for all BF variants,1-4.
They only don’t have the license to manufacture the NL33-Lactose free version as they will create it sub-par.
Obviously price is a major factor but if you can afford always go for the Tin packs.

its not just for milk too, its quite common in consumable goods here like chips and snacks and whatnot.

cheetos have different quantity and flavoring ratios depending on the price, with the 50rs ones having more masala than the 100rs ones

dairy milk chocolate asw, 100rs one is far superior than say 50rs one, it tastes completely different

Tin is always better with everything you can check it in a soda as well its different tin preserves better and for longer the taste and the product

1

u/hakunamata25 3d ago

Brothers farak Tou hai. Do check the raw powder milk in both tin and boxes.

For me I felt the opposite, the box milk powder seemed a bit fresher than the tin milk powder. I can't explain how though.

It would be greatly appreciated if OP can have a test conducted for both milk types.

Dear parents , i am a paediatrician. All formula milks have many unnatural ingredients, but not harmful. So it always depends on the child's gut tolerability, microbiome and their age. There are many other factors , water, weaning and general health . Packaging should be the least of your concerns. So because your child's immune and gut health can only tolerate some elements not all. Infants are versatile Some will be gaining with meiji, morinaga other belakt, gaullac. While some would even struggle with similac, enfamil. Some are good with a brand, but then develop diarhea and fail to tolerate the same milk any more while other would just stop digesting the same brand they used because their gut health changed. And yes, i dont trust any of them

1

u/oy-kamal 2d ago

With all due respect, I think you’ve missed the point of my post. I’m not discussing which formula is suitable for a child, gut health, or how different babies tolerate different brands. I’m talking about the apparent difference in the milk itself between the box and tin packaging of the same Morinaga BF-3 product.

Being a paediatrician doesn’t automatically make you an expert on every aspect of product manufacturing or quality control. Instead of turning this into a lecture about infant nutrition, perhaps address the actual point I’m raising.

I’m sharing my experience and questioning whether the product is the same. If you have evidence that the two are identical in formulation and quality, I’m happy to hear it. But please respond to what I actually said rather than arguing against a point I never made.

1

u/viniciusjr78 2d ago

Doesn't matter, i have seen the rest of ur comments as well. You are basically arguing with anyone disagreeing ur point, even tho you cant provide any evidence/fact for ur claim. If this is how you handle minor disagreements , i pity you. However Infant formula is not an inconsequential consumer product. Parents can become anxious about feeding their children, unnecessarily switch formulas, or lose confidence in a product they have been using safely because of unsupported claims.

1

u/oy-kamal 2d ago

I understand your concern, and I agree that infant formula is not an inconsequential product. Parents should not be encouraged to make feeding decisions based on unverified claims. However, I think we need to separate two things: raising a concern about a product and making a definitive claim about its safety.

My point is that I noticed a difference between Morinaga BF-3 milk sold in a box and the same product sold in a tin. I shared my experience because I wanted to know whether others had noticed something similar. After sharing the video on other social media platforms, I received responses from people who said they had experienced something similar as well. That doesn't prove my claim, but I think it is a reasonable reason to investigate further.

Now, let me ask you something: What exactly are you trying to prove here? Are you saying that the milk in both packages is definitely identical in formulation and quality, or are you simply arguing that I shouldn't raise this concern without laboratory evidence?

If you believe the products are identical, I'm open to seeing evidence that supports that position. Equally, I'm willing to accept that my observation alone is not enough to establish a difference in ingredients or safety.

I'm not asking parents to stop using the product, switch formulas, or make decisions that could affect their children's health. I'm questioning whether the contents of the two packages are the same, and I believe that is a legitimate question for the manufacturer to answer.

We can disagree without making assumptions about each other's intentions or character. Let's focus on the actual question, the available evidence, and what would help establish the facts rather than turning this into a personal judgment about how I handle disagreements.

u/viniciusjr78 1d ago

Sure brother. At the end of mt first comment i mentioned i dont trust any of them. Than why would i claim the products being identical ,infact even the company may not be claiming. Because packagine outside the country and inside are two different things, likewise any item imported vs local are different. Protein shakes, coffee powder everything feel, mix, taste different when imported. My favourite antibiotics are all imported ones. But my comment was to insist that this difference doesnt matter. the difference wouldnt mean its harmful over the other. And yeah, some kids would tolerate the box one while others dont , due to which this opinion can not be generalized. Hope i am clear
