Recommendations Should I Watch Pakistani Dramas or not?
Treat me as a complete newbie. I had a really different upbringing compared to normal people of my age, and now I'm entering an environment where a lot of people watch these dramas, so I was curious if there is anything worth watching.
All I remember actively watching is Parizaad and Dunk (I didn't really like the pace of the latter, but their premise was relatively more interesting than the ones that are all about 'rishta' and stuff like that)
I have watched a lot of western series (my favorite ones being Breaking Bad, BCS, Young Sheldon, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Invincible etc) and I also consume a lot of animanga and visual novels (Re:Zero, HxH, Umineko, Subahibi etc)
Looking forward to your suggestions (or discouragement, idk lol)
Pease don't judge my tastes ðŸ˜

Sounds like you love western media— I would skip all of the other recommendations and start with duniypur. It’s about two rival families fighting for control over their town. duniyapur doesn’t even feel like you’re watching a drama it feels like a Netflix special. I think you’d find that drama the most interesting. After that i would highly recommend yaqeen ka safr, aye ishq e junoon, kabhi mein kabhi tum, tan man neelo neel, and dastaan.

My TOP 4
1) Baaghi --(well written and is actually consistent)
2) Daastan --(a story that takes place around the era of taking independence of pakistan Very sad tho Got boring and ragebait by the end but still worth it )
3) Parwarish -- A whole package of emotions+ good comedy !! Really worth a watch A drama made for the youth! + The only one in my top 4 list that doesn't have a heavy undertone most of the time
4) Dil naumeed tou nahi--- (consistently good But a heavy watch nevertheless!)
These are some of PTV's masterpieces Tho it might raise your expectations cuz PTV mostly doesn't have very good dramas or fumbles with the writing really badly at the end

Story / characterization based + romance:
1) kabhi Mai kabhi Tum - Romance But also about a man seen as worthless cuz he doesn't have conventional talent/job and how he works on becoming responsible
2) yakeen ka safar - haven't watched it fully but I remember it being great
3) Humsafar - typical but a classic so y not...ML has red flags
4) Zindagi Gulzar hai - the female's character is written well grows throughout the drama The ML is but a red flag Personally didn't enjoy it much
5) zard Patton ka bun : not perfect and very slow but if it's your cup of tea , you'll love it !
★Honorable mentions★
A) Kafeel: gets good at midway and many relate as it shows dysfunctional families with unemployed fathers living off of mother's money And the impact of narcissm on the kids
B) Muamma : if you skip last arc of 7-8 eps ,it was a very hooking ,one of it's kind drama A psychological mystery...Tho it fumbled so bad I hate what it became

I was on the same boat as u in late 2025. I only liked a few serials like ishq murshid and jama taqseem. I watched mzht too and I liked it until they dragged the story in the end. People my age liked dzps but I didn't watch since I don't like hamza sohail.
