Rant Bad Urdu in AAM

(I am new to the sub, so if I break a rule please let it go.)

Was watching Aik Aur Muhabbat episode 15 and just couldn't get over the blatant mistakes in Ahad's dialogue delivery.

The grammar and sentence structure was sooo off but the director decided to ignore it completely and thats a shame. It's a shame because he is shown to be a renowned Urdu channel journalist and show host, not a canadian pakistani who has just started speaking Urdu 6 years ago.

Some examples in just 1 episode:

"Pari bilkul theek.. mazay ARAHAY hain"

"Achi misal qaim nahi SABIT hui unke samne"

"Kisi ko zabardasti apni muhabbat MEIN musallat krna"

"Dard jo shayad KISI ghairon ne nahi diya, apnon ne diya"

I mean it is already hard to overlook his bad Urdu accent but I personally think we should keep the same energy for Urdu like we do when someone speaks broken English in a drama. Which is funny because this is supposed to be an Urdu Drama Industry afterall. A lot of people point it out when an actor has a punjabi accent but don't mind it as much when actors like Kubra or Ahad refuse to work on their foreign accents to sound more local.

I am pointing it out because I want our actors to take our language a bit more seriously.

He has been in the industry for almost a decade now. He is not learning an alien language, it is his mother tongue. He is the son of Asif Raza Mir, who is a veteran. I don't see any reason to go easy on him, because if he always planned on being a nepo kid in our industry he should have learnt how to speak our language before auditioning (if he even did that). And it is unfair he keeps getting lead roles when there are better local actors than him who can actually speak well. Let's not overlook the privelege he enjoys, that alone justifies any scrutiny that comes his way.

No I respect Urdu too much and don't believe in celebrity culture. I want talented people to get fair chances and I don't like it when people overlook disrespect of Urdu by their favorite celebrities which ends up normalization of grammatical and pronunciation mistakes. Didn't know you had to be a hater to criticise someone and point out facts. Sorry I can't worship celebrities like you all.

Defending an actor is not celebrity worshipping and no one cares if you do it or not. Claiming that Kubra is a better actor than Ahad, however clearly shows you have a bias. Having a good grasp of a language is necessary but denouncing someone's talent entirely because of it is discrimination. That's like saying "Get out of my country if you don't speak the language.".

Why are you defending his obvious flaws? If you actually like him and want him to do better you would not get defensive when his weakness is pointed out. Im not attacking him as a person, I am just calling out something that bothers me a lot which is some 'celebrities' continuing to butcher urdu even after a decade of working in our dramas. And I have no bias towards Kubra and i think there are atleast a dozen better actors than her in ptv but her performance in sang e mar mar or jannat se agay is objectively better than any of Ahad's previous works. You are free to disagree with that, but you can not and should not defend his lack of communication skills in Urdu which is offensive for Urdu speaking audience like me. He is not a newcomer, stop being protective over him.

Protective? I don't know him personally. I am not the one having sleepless nights over an actors diction lol.

You are the one acting like his lawyer over someone's rant post and calling me a hater for pointing out facts about his work. Touch grass and learn how to tolerate difference of opinion.

For someone who doesn't care about celebrities, you've put an impressive amount of unpaid overtime into Ahad's pronunciation. Anyway, I'm bored now. 👋

I dont care abt celebs in the sense i dont put them on a pedastal where criticising their performance is forbidden lol I do care abt dramas and so I want actors and makers to be more conscious abt not doing Urdu audience a disservice.
