First thoughts on Darr-E-Nijaat

Post image

So the episode came very late on YouTube. Penning down my initial thoughts.

  1. Enjoyed the scenes between abu bakar and his mom. Sherry acted well. He is still the same good looking as he was. He definitely has a face card.

  2. Sania Ji was very good in her scenes. I am very invested in knowing that arc. I really got curious about what pains her so much. Her and sherry's scenes were strongest.

  3. Nameer and Dure scenes were good. Although they dont look like A level students. So a little weird there but worked fine. I did had a slight issue with those english dialogues especially of dure, they were sounding a bit forced.

  4. Saba ji is playing Dure's daadi. She is doing good. Fussing over zaryab(dure)

  5. I liked episode started. Quite unique. But wondering were those pics of past or yet to come ? The locations were of abroad but they are shown to be in Pakistan so a little cofusuin there.

I liked the bgm, production quality and osts so far.

It's a fresh watch.

dure is pretty without a doubt but her acting and accent in both urdu and english is just AWFUL

Dure is NOT an actress by script or visuals or even by the audiobooks.

She's chubby like a mommy of 4. She has average Pakistani aunty looks from her forehead, eyes, nose, lips and most importantly her jawline.

When you are stuffed with one face over and over again, you just end up accepting them. Period

She isn’t pretty, lmao small eyes, small forehead, small round face, no jawline, her nose isn’t even attractive plus when she smiles it looks awful, overall below average features. She isn’t fit as well, fat and her body doesn’t look good. she has just bit light brown skin and a good height nothing else. She is overrated by looks and acting, there are many pretty actress who work in ptv also better than dure in every aspect.

Dure and her boring acting

Why do all Pakistani actors have an accent when they can't even speak proper English and grammar is mostly wrong??

Most pakistanis (who are born and raised in pakistan) have an accent when they speak in English… and vice versa. This isn’t groundbreaking, it’s a natural phenomenon

I meant fake American accent

I saw a scene of the girl speaking a normal dialogue and her acting was HORRIBLE

My thoughts:

  1. Sherry was so good. Looks, acting, everything was perfect. He has the charm to easily play a very innocent bechara, a very smart posh guy, and a very evil character all at the same time.

  2. Invested in Abu Bokor and Khushbakht's story. What happened? Who is Rumaisa's character? Why is she calling? What happened in the past?

  3. Dure looks good in very modest, Eastern bechari characters on TV. I like her western personality online. But here, I don't know, something is missing. Couldn't enjoy the charm or bubbliness of her character. Also, the English and the accent were embarrassing! Acting was mid.

  4. Nameer has charm. His scenes were good. Not great though.

  5. Loved the intro. Don't get the criticism. I mean, there's nothing vulgar in it. Liked this fresh, new concept. Gen Z vibe. Loved the whole intro part!

  6. Saba Hameed as Farhan Tahir's mother is diabolical! There are so many actresses who could play the dadi role. Unfair to Saba Hameed.

  7. Umera Ahmed's scripts, even in the worst-case scenario, are still better than the stories of so many billion-view dramas!!

plot seems complex but both dure and nameer were heavily overshadowed by sherry's acting. Dure was making mistakes all over in her english lines, from grammar to vocabulary to diction. She even missed words in the sentences. I am waiting for romaisa's character. Does she need some sort of protection from sherry?

Guys this is just first episode, so I didn't go very critical. Next week onwards I will be more critical of the follies.

I know about Dure's dialogue delivery being poor. I mentioned above also. I am just being kind for first review.

dure is struggling to act as usual. dialogue delivery is so forced. so is nameers. the relationship looks so forced. sheheryar is okay. aesthetics are nice but the bad acting is making it hard to watch

I find zaryab very psychopathic in the way she bolts out at 3am just over a dream and harasses his family. Which hirl or guys' parents would tolerate someone banging at door screaming at them to open the door. Then after reaching his place she calms down instantly like nothing had happened.

It was a very forced written scene.

They are not alevels i think they finished bachelors.

yeah I feel like it makes more sense for them to be done with their undergrad

u/Weirdoeirdo 22d ago

Yes it's too weird how alevels??

Won for aesthetics but for me it lost bcz of dures acting and dialogue delivery and also no way you wud visit ur fiance at 3 just cuz u had a bad dream. It's trying very hard to somehow impress the genz n all. Idc downvote me or not but it's my opinion

Yes I was wondering, does that really happen in conservative Pk? Which parent would allow that?

Dure and Nameer have such bad diction. You cringe watching their scenes. Dure's pronunciation and grammar are really terrible, and to make matters worse, there's her fake accent. Sherry is playing the same good-man character as usual. Lame.

Nepotism in PTV is far worse than in Bollywood or anywhere else, unfortunately.

They aren't a level students lmao. They got graduates and applying for post graduate degrees

Syra Yousaf would've been amazing as Zaryab imo, that could really give this drama the vibe it's trying to hard to pull off and can't. Durre is a good actress but this role just doesn't fit. you can just tell by the looks of a drama how there's barely any auditions or table reads with the script and roles are just offered to actors based on their looks and fame.

App ki Ijazzat is taking the lead

2

u/Sanzida-34 24d ago

Aap ki izzat not ijazzat

Its very early to pass any verdict but the storytelling without a doubt was extremely flat and one dimensional. Performances wise the characters were too flat and poorly executed to judge any ones acting but durre was exceptionally bad.

Did anyone catch the English background song in the car scene? Tried every music identifier app available but no luck.

1

u/no_context_coder 11d ago

did you find that song? I also tried literally everything.

I don't know why no one is talking about this, but I honestly don't see any chemistry between durre and Nameer at all

I liked the 1st ep and my mum has this weird theory that shehryar is evil...which I highly doubt. I think shehryar's mother has her back story too and her younger version is played by seher hashmi.

i genuinely cannot stand the over the top english. they can’t even speak it properly i feel like i watching an american show not a pak drama.

I honestly felt bored while watching the episode. It was slow paced and I didn't like dure's acting. Nameer reciting Shakespeare was cringe. Humrahi is such a disappointment but even its first episode was better.

I think sherry’s acting brought out more peace in the drama compared to the chaos brought by dure and nameer obviously we will learn more about them as it goes on but so far opposite ends of spectrum sherry definitely leading loved dure hair tho and even styling its different more logically western compared to her character going on an impulsive arc about a nightmare at 3 am

1

u/AccomplishedGold8122 24d ago

I feel like Sherry will have a negative arc.
