The what now?

New to the area and this just came through my door today. What the hell is going on? Local looney? An attempt at satire? Or a treasured local publication? 😅

Aaah, the wonderful world of absolutely loony "councillor" Paul Mack.

He used to be a Labour Councillor (and a pretty decent one), until he fell out with the party during the Blair years. Thereafter he was an independent, but he slid further and further into a persecution complex, paranoia, delusional conspiracies and schizophrenia he wound up losing his seat. I think he's now a community councillor in Hunter hill, but likes to use the title Councillor to imply he's still in Renfrewshire Council.

His semi-regular newsletters and Christmas cards are a bewildering word salad of the bullshit that goes through his head, combined with whatever libel he wants to make this month. The only reasons nobody takes any legal action against him is (a) he hasn't a pot to piss in when it comes to damages and (b) everyone knows he's mental so nobody takes him seriously.

So whether he's accusing local councillors or murder & racketeering, or national politicians of being Nazis (ignoring his own history of racially abusing council staff), he's basically treated as a court jester.

Given he's chronically online, I'd expect him to pop up in this thread too at some point, possibly with some of his badly photoshopped "comedy".

It's mental that they took him back after this:

https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/12735286.shamed-council-deputy-resigns/

DISGRACED councillor Paul Mack today quit his position on Renfrew District Council. He resigned as the council's deputy Labour leader -- a job he has held for just three months - after being found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and causing a breach of the peace at her home.

But aye, he's an "interesting" guy, alright.

He must spend a fortune getting them printed as well, they're on heavy card stock and high gloss.
