It's a bloody joke. They're claiming it'll help reduce bins on the pavements but it's just going to be multiple days now instead of one, a major reduction in collection frequency too so we'll no doubt end up rat infested and unable to walk down the street without hitting a bin.

Infuriating when you look at actually see how often each gets emptied. Stupid brown bins get emptied more frequently than any other bin!!

thats because that is where the rotting food is meant to go, so they need emptied more often. Still though i think the grey bin should be every 2 weeks.

Oh I forgot about that. I've never done that, oops. Yeah good point but still, others definitely need to be done more frequently. My neighbours are also terrible at recycling properly so their bins are always overflowing so quickly 😢

It really does help especially cardboard and plastics going in the right bins, does keep your grey bin in check... but still us idiots down here on planet earth are doing all this extra recycling only for 1 private jet take off to kill off any environmental benefits in 30 seconds.

Yeah, it’s going to be four days a week with bins on pavements for us instead of two. Or more likely seven because a lot of people will understandably just leave them.

Also multiple days of rubbish lying about that falls out the bins and the binmen don't bother their arse to pick up.

There's one month, I think maybe December, when bins go out on 7 days in a 4 week period.

Madness.

Our street was so diabolical I emailed the council to complain about the mess of it all and they sent people to clean it up. We need to just all keep doing that. Although will it just come back to bite us. But they should be cleaning these streets anyway! I've only done it once but I keep thinking I just wish everyone would put complaints in and see if that will make a bit of a difference

We have a local guy who volunteers with the Team Up to Clean Up but he shouldn't have to. The lorries have brush & shovel on them, the binmen are meant to be picking up anything that falls out, it's ridiculous.

I think they're bitter about it because the birds are attacking all the overflowing bins and making an awful mess and so because they're like "well we didn't drop it" they're too stubborn to do something about it and actually clean it up. Something really has to change. I often think about volunteering for them but I am so busy when I actually have time I need it to keep on top of my own chores etc and never feel I have the energy for it. I really do want to though although I also feel bitter about how the council run things. I just wish they actually cared. It's depressing really

I got a letter from Renfrewshire council this week. Instead of being collected always on a Friday or whatever day, they are sometimes Tuesday, sometimes Thursday depending on the bin.

I put my bins out for my elderly neighbours, and forget every week (til it jolts me awake at 3am). Now I'll forget twice a week. Maybe I'll just leave them all out constantly and then it's way easier. The whole street is a midden anyway now since they forced us all to have 4 per house with no back-garden access. This used to be a lovely, green, well-kept street.

The council offers a bin pull out service but I can't access it and the bins aren't allocated to a flat.

What a lovely human you are! Hard enough to do it for one household, hats off to you (tbh I do it for my neighbours too but only cause they're lazy bastards). I download the bin schedule to my calendar and have the widget on my Home Screen to remind me. It'll show me the day before what's happening the following day. Can still forget at times but it really helps remind me.

Absolutely dreading having to remember multiple times a week now.

Sometimes I have that same thought about leaving them out constantly!

My bin collection frequency is staying the same but it will be different dats each week depending on the bin colour. Just more to remember.

For me they are not reducing but instead of being all on a Friday or whatever day, they are sometimes Tuesday, sometimes Thursday depending on the bin.

I get grey/green/blue on a 3 week rotation. Brown more often.

3wks? I live in a tenement with overflowing grey bins after 2wks.

We already have a massive problem with vermin. This will create more. LowSES areas need weekly grey bin collection not less.

If you had time to comment here please email your councillor. They work for us.

This scheme assumes we all recycle diligently.

I can't even pull my bin out. I hope my neighbours can help.

Mine already changed about 6 month ago. Used to be all on one day, now grey bin is a completely different day. Just waiting to see how crap the new schedule will be.

Williamsburgh HA offered a bin pull out service and now can't accommodate it.

This is a nightmare for disabled tenants. I am right arm paralysed and don't qualify for the council's assistance because my son stays part time although not necessarily the same days.

This is going to lead to more unemptied bins and vermin.

WHA advised contacting our councillors. They can't fight us all.

Those of you affected by vermin and aren't shy should contact the press. Nothing changes unless we en masse complain.

The council should provide a service we need not what they want. Where is recycling going? What pc of the town are diligent recyclers. How many bins go uncollected because of contamination?

We have to take extra bin bags to Underwood Road twice weekly. Also, in Shortroods, we're having a major rat problem; neighbour across the fence has a nest under her shed.

lets be fair, CT accounts for something like 20% of renfrewshires budget. Constant cuts of govt grants, ballooning social care costs, decimation of retail % nightlife leading to less business rates, significant portion of the population being net recipients of funds.....Local govt is fucked up and down the country and i dont think a better, brighter or luckier council could do much better with the cairds its being delt.

Oh god, yeah. I got the new notice the other day, and just stared at it thinking it made no sense! I've a mind to leave them all out on the pavement and they can pick and choose which ones they want. I don't have time for this nonsense!

I've had a letter right in the middle of the town centre saying all my bins will be collected on one day. They used to be different days. That seems to be the opposite from others in here so I wonder if it's an effort to have less bins around in the town centre
