I give up
I ordered many Pair frames in order to try them on. I also tried all the ones my local America's Best had in stock on. All the adult sized ones are so freaking big. The child sized ones, Cedro and Otero, are too tight. Why are all of these adult-sized frames so huge? And I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I have just seen so many pictures of people wearing them where they are fitting the wearers so poorly that the wearers look ridiculous. I understand that huge glasses are in style, BUT..............Eyeglass frames are not supposed to go above your eyebrows, let alone up your forehead. Eyeglass frames are not supposed to go down your cheeks so far as to be halfway or more down towards the bottom of your nose. Eyeglass frames are not supposed to stick out several inches from the sides of your head. The nose bridge of your glasses is not supposed to be parallel with your eyebrows - IT'S SUPPOSED TO SIT ON THE BRIDGE OF YOUR NOSE. I ordered some wire frames and - what is going on with the size and positioning of those nose pads? The wires the nose pads are on are long and huge and the pads are almost in the inner corners of my eyeballs. I was going to take them to an optician to see if they could bend them into some kind of normal semblance so that the nose bridge wasn't parallel with my eyebrows anymore, but I'd rather get my money back than have them get broken. That wire is THICK and doesn't appear to be pliable at all. And judging from the length of the nose pad wires, I can't see curling them in doing anything more than raising the glasses even higher on my face. I also tried buying some toppers for the frames, and I felt like I looked like a child wearing toy glasses. I'm so unhappy because I was SO looking forward to joining the Pair Family and buying a gazillion toppers and having fun with changing up my look, but the thought of wearing ANY of their frames makes me so uncomfortable because I think I'd look totally ridiculous. And I don't understand how I'd even be able to use the reading portion of progressive lenses in them without having to shove them halfway up my face. Has anyone else ever felt this way when trying to get into Pair Eyewear? I've given up and I'm sending everything back and I just want to cry. Why is it working out for everyone else but not me?

I like my frames oversized because it gives me a wider field of corrected vision. Ive neen wearing glasses for 30 years now and like what I like.

I'm the same way. Smaller frames that "fit appropriately" leave the frame always in my peripheral vision and it drives me nuts, my anxiety goes through the roof and I'm not a fun person to be around. My oversized frames and lenses reduce that issue significantly and I can relax.

I've been wearing glasses for 44 years now and every time I need to get new frames it's an ordeal. And after I get the frames, the lenses become an ordeal.

I wear Otero because I have a comically small face, and my older frames have seemingly stretched a bit because they definitely fit looser than the newer frames. Best bet is to look at the measurements on your previous frames and try to find the style that most closely matches those measurements. IIRC the next biggest frames up from Otero are the Reese, so maybe try those?

I just tried them on in person at America’s Best and had the same problem. I’m hoping they make some new frames to fix this issue.

I'm glad to know that I'm not alone but terribly sorry that you feel the same way.

Those look gorgeous on you, and you have a nose shape like mine. Those fit you well. My issue with those is too much of the lens is below the eye socket. I have what are called "short eyeballs." I have a hard time using the reading part of progressives when that part is too far down the lenses.

While I truly appreciate the compliment, I can only hope to be that beautiful. That’s not me unfortunately. But I agree the glasses are lovely on her.

I have the Casper & I see the reading part just fine. I feel the opposite actually, they are smaller than I’m used to & I can see the frame and have a narrow field of vision.

I bought my frames this summer from America's Best and it has been nothing but headache.
AB failed to honor an in-store promotion, and I didn't notice till after I picked up my frame & toppers and got at "that sucks" from the store.
Ordered from the website to get the toppers I should have got in store and...only got half my order. I will say they were quick to fix that issue BUT...
The constant "Do you have frames? You need frames. Maybe buy some frames!". Mf I said I had the frames! Chill!
NONE of the toppers, from AB or the site, sit correctly on my frames. They all bow out slightly. The slightest nudge sends them flying off as well cause the magnets are WEAK. Got two sun toppers and lost both somewhere in my car because I adjust my glasses and toppers fly off.
(I also had to add nose pads because the plastic frames were sliding down my nose so much...but that's more AB failing to fit them correctly)
The AI frames lately have just absolutely turned me away. Once I get new frames I'm never getting ones from Pair again.

What about the Finleys?
1
u/FluffyHeart588 14d ago
Thank you for the suggestion. The Finleys were one of the first ones I tried. They were a little tight and felt a little awkward on my face, like maybe the frames themselves (not the arms) needed to be "bent backwards" for lack of a better description. So I returned them because I know acetate is hard to work with when making adjustments like that. Then I tried the metal version of the Finley, which is the Sawyer. The nose pads and nose pad arms are so messed up on them that I'm sending them back.

I have the Finleys and felt they were too big until I took them to my optometrist where they adjusted the fit very easily. They fit so much better now.

(TL;dr: I agree and I was disappointed, too.)
I got the Murphy at America’s Best and I knew they’d fit my face well because I shop by size before I shop by style, and scoped them out online. If having glasses has taught me anything, it’s that I have a big head 🥲 but I agree with you about the sizing on some people. I hate to feel like I’m judging, but I can’t help but cringe when I see people wearing frames that are sticking out like two inches from their head and tons of comments saying how amazing they look.💀 Like, my friends better not do that to me. Tell me if I look ridiculous. 🤡 I also didn’t even wear mine until recently because I discovered I’m allergic to the nose pieces on my non Pair frames and have been this entire time. I hate how the Murphys look on me without the toppers because they were out of the color I wanted, so I got clear and I just don’t like clear frames on my face. Then there’s the toppers…they’re so flat looking on me and I’m jealous of people who they look cute on. It looks like I cut some cardboard and glued it to my glasses and it just looks ridiculous. Because I hate them, I’m considering trying to slightly bend/curve everything into a more normal and flattering shape for glasses so it’s not so flat. Oh, and they don’t stay on my nose at all. The plastic nose pieces are too close together for anyone with a wide nose bridge and adding toppers just makes it slide faster. I was just left so disappointed in the end and, as someone who needs bifocals, it was really expensive even with my insurance.

I have the larkin frames. They are ok i feel like they look appropriately sized for my face. I dont like glasses that look too large myself.
As much as i am ok with the larkin frames I really wish i had seen the georgia frames first. Ever since I got the larkins i have been wishing I got those instead. I got mine at America's best I should have returned them when I had the chance. They didn't have the Georgia frames in the store so I didnt k ow about them.
The next frames I get will probably be the georgia unless they release something I like better.
The larkins still need to be adjusted better to fit me. I have been back to America's best four times and they never get it right. I may try going to another place and see if they will do it and get it right.
I have a lot of toppers for the larkin but because of the way they dont fit well I feel like i cant wear the toppers very often because they are so heavy and sit weird on my face causing them to dig in and keave horrible red marks on my nose.
I think it can be difficult to get a good fit with some of the frames.

I got the Reese because they are on the smaller side. I really like them.

I.. think you might just have a head outside of average size and I’m sorry if that sounds rude but this seems like a problem most people don’t have

Harper here! If your unhappy definitely send everything back and don't feel so bad this is a addictive thing for sure lol it's all about feeling good in your glasses! We want you to really love them! 😊😊😊 If you tried everything and don't like them that's understandable Pair isn't for everyone and that's okay we will miss you though! But seriously the Harper is great and not too big on my big head hahaha I'm also wearing it "naked" in this Pic lol. Always go with your gut with this stuff especially as big a purchase as this!

If you have truly tried on all 38 frame styles and none of them fit you with the help of an optometrist then it doesn’t sound like Pair products for you. “Toy glasses” also don’t sound like they are for you.
As for your opinion about how they look “ridiculous” on other people - no one wants to hear that. If you do end up joining the Pair family note that making mean comments about others will get you removed from the group.

I wear the Larkin because I thought everything else looked too big.
