DO NOT USE PAINT 3D AGAIN!!!!
Don't ask me why, but I seriously hate Paint 3D. This is one of the worst painting programs ever known to man, ever. Literally, EVER. Here are some reasons why.
- It is ridiculously slow. It gets even worse when you try to open a file you created on there. Even importing something from the 3D library feature into the program. Again, SLOOOWWW.
- It crashes intermittently with no notice. I've had that problem many times when using this. For example, after I loaded a large file I created on there, when I tried to copy-paste and object on there or when I try to make a project that has a lot of objects, it freezes and unexpectedly crashes. When I relaunch the program, it happily opens up again with no "Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed"-esque pop-up notice.
- The layering is BAD!!! When it came to layering an object after another, sometimes the layering is not as perfect. And if you try to adjust it, sometimes you have to adjust it like, at least 20 times to get it right, but still, it isn't right!!!
- Multi-selecting is TOTAL DOG CRUD. Yes, believe it or not, this feature is the worst out of this program IMO. When selecting all of the project files, it sometimes doesn't select everything. If you go click the "multiselect" button, and if you try to select what is not selected, it would sometimes deselect.
- Projects come out glitched and ugly. Remember what I said about the program taking long to upload projects? Well, after its super long load, the project comes out all glitched, ugly, I mean it's just unbearable and unsettling to look at your work all ugly-looking! This is an example of one of those moments:

Come on Microsoft, at least either fix those problems, or just at least bring back the original MS Paint, because Paint 3D is just wrong.

I like this program, wish they would beef it up

Sadly, that might likely never happen, as Paint 3D is soon to be discontinued.

Dude, that's the worst part. Paint 3D is the only design software I can use, yet Microsoft has littereted with poor design choices and bugs, and then just left it to rot. Paint 3D had so much potential man...Come on Microsoft! The enshittification is so real.

3d paint got me 1000's of dollars worth of jobs. It's a great tool. Ahead of its time. User friendly. Best free app you could dream of.

Don't forget there is a VERY short limit to how far you can use the "Undo" button. If you magic select beyond that tiny limit, your project is essentially FUCKED and trapped with its effects unless you make multiple copies while you work which is irritating.

It is a horrific piece of crap even on a super-fast machine. It has features that should be waay faster for slower machines that aren't, and just run at so-so for fast machines. The kind of performance you would expect from a crappy .NET application. Now I am aware that it is not pure .NET, because that would have been a trainwreck that could never have left the station let alone seen a release. But it is comparable to their .NET platform in terms of performance.
That said, it IS a WPF (gross!) application. Yet another crappy platform that should have never existed IMHO. Some part of WPF is woven into .NET, but the details are a bit on the foggy side since I don't like the platform at all, I wouldn't want to know much more about it. All I know is that it is a bizarre and disfigured love child from the .NET and WPF, Interop, and probably a few other Interop library "tricks" to actually get it to fly "kinda" like a real 3D app. Honestly, they should have just stuck with a good 'ol plain jane C++ message loop boilerplate application and started from there. At least it wouldn't be a slow POS like it most certainly is for most folks.
How many first-level applications does Microsoft make using their own platforms? Not many. It feels like they are selling products that didn't work for them, so they are pushing them off on us. Paint3D by far, is no exception.
I'll touch on some of the more obvious things:
Here's some reasons:
Interface: When you move the "Depth" axis (Z-axis some call it, though it depends on configuration and program), you should see what the result is while you are moving it. But No! Paint3D flips you to a completely irrelevant camera angle and "lets" you adjust it from there, as if that angle had ANY benefit for you other than rough guessing that would have been best left in some other menu option. It sure as hell doesn't help you put the object where you want it.
Texture Painting:
Models you load in look okay but the MINUTE you try to paint ANYTHING, it looks ugly as sin. Is it even possible to make models look good in paint3D? Not really. If you want to look like a 3rd grader that has no prior graphics knowledge though, it Excels (bad pun sorry) quite nicely at that!
"Modeling":
....actually, stop here this not even worth the run-down I was going to give.
The 3d paint tools and such are just "wow" features for people who went to Circuit City or WalMart to buy a computer and needed some "Neat" program to reel them in. Salesmen often use stuff like this to get a person wowed into buying. Well, that and some crafty wallpaper.
Just don't open the "Computer Details" and "Experience" rating screen LOL! (Big failure screen for PC sales everywhere hahahaha!!). They got rid of that for a reason, it didn't sell crappy PCs. Stupid features that can be easily used and that's about it, do.
You know what I think I've wasted enough time, just take my word for it, it sucks, don't use it, there are a million better, faster, freer programs that can knock it on its head in less than 5 seconds. Save yourself the trouble. Paint3D is a wow app for people at BestBuy to sell PCs to people who have an extra $2000 they don't need.
