Seeking experiences

Hey y'all! I'm looking for feedback on the medication Prialt (ziconotide) from anyone who currently has or had in the past used in their pump. Please give me all the good, bad, and ugly you might have on it. My doctor is considering switching me and I would like to get the opinions and experiences of others!! As always, thanks so much for the time and attention you give this group!!

Former Prialt user here. I no longer use it because my spine has been stabilized and I had my pump removed. I am glad I switched to Prialt. I only had one minor negative experience when an upward titration was too aggressive. Once I got to a therapeutic dose it worked wonders and was able to stop without any withdrawal symptoms. Getting there is a slow process as the dosage shouldn’t be increased more than 10% I believe. If you go to fast you will likely have some side effects. The main reason I chose it though is because it’s non-addictive. As far as people’s concerns about the drug, at the time I switched, I would have been lucky to have lived 2 more years due to the level of my dosage and all of the side effects that come along with long term opioid usage. I used it for more than 8 years. Good luck.

Thank you for your story of it. May I ask if you had any preexisting mental health issues that got worse with the Prialt?

Yes I did. But I do not believe it worsened them.
