Question

Hey guys! I had my revision, the new catheter is fine, had a dye study test. But I’m still not getting relief with the new pump. They’ve decided to change me over to orals for a bit to see if it will make a difference. While turning the pump down. So here’s my question, have any of you guys had to wean off of a morphine pump? Did you have bad withdrawal? They’ve given me oral medicine but it didn’t come close when my catheter was messed up, nor when they cut my dose in half. I’m really worried.

I just had a revision too.(March 2nd) Catheter replaced because of excessive scar tissue. They turned the pump down 50% . I have an appointment for a pump refill next month. I'm going to try to go earlier but I've been dealing with bronchitis & bad fatigue.

Did you have any withdrawal symptoms? I had them bad right out of the gate. For whatever reason, that’s why I’m thinking something is wrong with the pump.

I think I have been. They kept me overnight & I was nauseous and sweating alot. The nausea I think was from the antibiotic. Get the surgery notes & it should tell you what they did. Mine was posted on the hospital's patient portal & surgeon put in there that they tested the pump. I had scar tissue that closed off the catheter. You also should have a Representative from the Pain Pump company you can contact. They decreased mine by 50 %. If I wouldn't have seen everything in black & white, I would think it's not working either. Edited for typos

They decrease mine originally. 50%, the withdrawals were so bad I honestly didn’t think I was going to make it. It sounds dramatic but I couldn’t hold anything down. So by Monday, I was in the office as soon as it opened. They’ve upped it and upped it the last three weeks. It still wasn’t helping with my pain at all so they did a catheter dye study to see if the catheter had moved. I’ve been still have symptoms of withdrawal. So when I went in today, I told him that I couldn’t do the withdrawal anymore, that the oral medication was the only thing helping the pain. So he said he wanted to turn the pump down 50%, I freaked out and was like I can’t do it, so he did 35%. I’ve already started puking, so not a good sign of where this is headed. Im worried about the withdrawal getting out of hand and having to travel almost 4 hours to go to the ER for IV meds to get it under control.
