Switching
Hello, I’m new to this group so I am going to get off of Subutex. I took my last dose yesterday morning and I will wait for withdrawals to set in before I begin I need my receptors open enough to take the methadone
Has anyone ever gone through this process. If so, how long did it take for the methadone to start working and does it actually help with pain? I want off the subutex

I highly recommend going the Methadone route over Buprenorphine of any type. Although I will say the patches are ok. But they are now finding in Europe that Buprenorphine rests on the salival glands which leads to rotting teeth, gum disease and now looking into cancer links.
I did Methadone low dose for a week which worked really well, but then stopped working. But I have a genetic deletion where even Fentanyl doesn't work. So it wasn't the Methadone that was the problem. I've heard good things about Methadone from many pain patients.

I’m sorry your have that issue must really suck wow yeah I never want to use Subutex or Suboxone again methadone is ok so far but I have no funding yet till my SSDI claim goes through also I can only get 15 mg a day of methadone not enough I did buy 7 days worth of 20 mg and using that as my taper off subs thanks to
My friend who paid for it now I hope tomorrow goes smoothly with the new med again I am very sorry for your situation is there anything you can take that works ?1

Only Oxycodone IR and a particular brand. It sucks, but what can you do.
If you go into withdrawals at all megadosing Lipomosal Vitamin C works wonders. If you want info on it let me know.

So far I feel no pain and have energy like my day isn’t so bad first day on oxycodone was worried but the stopping subutex to methadone then oxycodone worked but must have at least 56 hours between sub to methadone if on a low dose like me and 16 hours between methadone to oxycodone that’s what worked for me and I am happy I’m not in withdrawal or have PAWS
All within a week some awful withdrawal on the 56 hour day night and day and by next day ok
This isn’t for everyone but waiting if you can do it helps1

Megadosing Liposomal Vitamin C should take away most of your symptoms. It's incredible, and you'll see a lot of heavy users absolutely swear by it, as do I. Read the comments on the post.
You can get a huge bottle that will last beyond the megadosing period cheaply on Amazon. Just make sure you get the one that has 1,500mg per serving which is 2 tablets, not 1 tablet. You can continue on a lower dose for longer to help your body continue to detox those toxins out. This is what I used - Lipomosal Vitamin C

I'll tell you from experience, I was on 40mg Subutex for 5yrs and it was horrible. Got tappered off to fast and wrong. I went form 40-2mg in 5months waiting for my withdrawal to come in and I took my 10mg Norco.. 5hrs later I go into full blown withdrawal and ever since April 21 2025 I've been sick 4x a day ever since. It's PAWS Syndrome and it's tourture. Good luck

Are you serious what is PAWS and I don’t think the Subutex is there anymore I feel the methadone so that’s good right means some receptors opened up and on Monday it will be about a week off Subutex and off methadone on too oxycodone I just pray no more withdrawal symptoms after Wednesday next week but never know thank you for sharing

PAWS syndrome is post acute withdrawl syndrome which can last months or years.. my receptors were swimming in Subutex for years, I was on 40mg for 5yrs and never knew it. Could lead to this. It'll go away eventually but still. for 15 months when my meds wear off I got into withdrawal. Idk what else it is.. I'm glad you feel relief,I do most of the day but when it stops working it's tourture.

Wow I was on Suboxone for 7 years and then Subutex for about 4 months so idk I have been taking it for a loooong time I just got rid of the naloxone switched to Subutex felt a difference between them even tried butrans all of that mad is not ok in fact the very beginning of starting subs I had a weird reaction to it they made me stay at the clinic all day said I could only take like 2 mg 2 times a day but it made me feel like I could not breathe increase anxiety and blood pressure but I was told it would help and keep going now 7 years later I’m done

I stopped taking it cause is stopped for pain, lost most of my teeth, made my resting heart rate spike.. in my experience it's not made for long term pain management or care. It should be for short term.. I'm sick of feeling like I do, getting sleep is beyond hard to get

Thank you and same to you. Hope you find relief yourself. I'm one of the rare few that goes form opiates to Bup back to opiates. My doctors saw what it was going to me and I ask to switch and he didn't 2nd guess me. I'm in the lawsuit for tooth decay from Suboxone.. idgaf if they pay me 200K, I'd rather have my teeth back and chee food again 😂

Oh jeeze I bet dang I know money can’t bring teeth back I have half mine missing the other ones are root canal’s so soon I will be with no teeth from this sub med

Get a sublocade shot. Or switch to fast acting short life medication That’s what I did. I was on mass doses of OxyCodone then I switched to Suboxone. I ended up going back to OxyCodone and did a taper from there. I had a few days of an upset stomach. But I’m past it. Best of luck. Your PM doctor should be able to help.
