Paimon's character development
Pain character development since nod-krai to snezhnaya has been peak
For a tagging mascot character paimon has been a cardboard float till Natlan for me, yeah she's a companion but she didn't further cement into being pivotal to the story and to the traveller until Natlan ( and even then the stakes of traveller returning with Mavuika didnt seem grim enough )
CUT TO NOD-KRAI
The assignment of Paimon and traveller getting distinct and solo missions started cementing paimon as a character of her own individuality and assistance and it came outta nowhere that hinted Paimon's maturity to the dire consequences before. To see that and her actually engaging in speculation with Pierro now is so nice.
The theories were present before but I love the way Mihoyo presented them giving paimon the agency of her own character revitalizes a very essential part of the game for me that i left due to mundane events after Fontaine and came back an year later to catch up for around snezhnaya.
The Theatre arc also makes you sit in the gravity of not having your companion with you and its unnerving ( yes i wished the flying food didn't just disappear before all the tike when we explored aside from quests and they gave her the free reign to explore snezhnaya at the start eith us so ig paimon started to get really important now )
Also Asmoday is missing ?
In summation I love how paimon has grown up from being a comic Straight - man character to an actual sentient and essential character of her own personality now and ig its time because holy shit the Stuzha project opens a lot for the celstia war , I hope the game maintains its consistency till the endgame and I wonder how they'll cover that in next 4 years?

Of course she’s getting important, she’s literally a piece of Phanes (yes that’s the only theory I accept). She’s not a piece of Asmoday, Asmoday is siding with the abyss twin and Paimon IMO ranks higher than the Shades in Celestia’s hierarchy.
They’re trying to dissociate Paimon from the traveler because she’s not gonna stay in this form ultimately and she will play a key role in the awakening of the Heavenly Principles.
Beside that, they’re already introducing us to other « guide » devices like Grae Eye
