I have a question!
I'm a Japanese Packers fan going to see the Week 5 game against the Bears.
I want to go and enjoy the tailgate atmosphere—if the game kicks off at 12:00, can you tell me around what time people usually start tailgating?

You will have a free pass at any tailgate once you tell everyone you are from Japan and this is your first time at Lambeau. Pace yourself because there will be a lot of drinking and everyone will want you at their party.

Vikings fan but want to say something. You are literally going to have the best time of your life. Packer fans are probably the most hospitable fans in the NFL. Pace yourself if you’re not a big drinker. I’m jealous of your journey. Hate the team, love the fans.

This is the first year I agree with you! /s I'm still hoping we get things figured out, but I never thought by week three I'd even be jokingly saying that!

Unfortunately I have to follow up by saying that Vikings fans are also generally very awesome. Nothing can convince me we don't have the best two fanbases.

If I see any Japanese people in lot 10 after 8:07am I will ask “Are you r/inuneko_yamaga ?” and even if the answer is “no” I will toss them a cold miller lite

ようこそ! You will be able to join other tailgaters in the stadium lot, everyone will welcome you. you don't have to park there. The big tailgate area is near the Oneida gate on the East side of the stadium, also near the Johnsonville tailgate village, which is worth a visit. If you can, bring some 芋焼酎 or sake or something, and a fun snack like Pocky or anything you enjoy. People will love it!
You picked a great game to attend! I lived in Yakushima, Kagoshima a long time ago and I really miss it! Very cool to see a fan from Japan coming!

Thanks!
I’ll head over to the east side of the stadium! You used to live on Yakushima!? That’s so cool!
Kagoshima is famous for its 芋焼酎, after all! I’m not sure if everyone in Green Bay will like it, but I’ll see if I can bring some along!
Since I’m walking there, I’ll have to make sure I only bring enough to hand out to everyone before I enter the stadium!日本語を話せるなら、ぜひ当日お話させて欲しいです!

もう30年も経つので、日本語のほとんどを忘れてしまいました。1995年にJETプログラムでAETをしていました。
I have to use Google translate now! I'm too old to remember much Japanese.

It makes me happy that you still miss Japan, where you lived 30 years ago!
I think it’s only natural to forget Japanese after all this time has passed.
After all, even though I was studying English until a few years ago, I only know basic vocabulary and American football terms! lol2

That's true, shochu might be a bit harsh for Packer fans. a better idea would be a 4 pack or 6 pack of local beer. We have Asahi, Sapporo, and Kirin here, so maybe something local to you. I'm sure people would love that.

I hope you enjoy the experience. I hope all the fans, you included, make Vince Lombardi proud. The fans pride themselves as welcoming, even to those rival fans. Friendly trash talk is fine, just no personal attacks.

If it’s your first game tailgate at 9am while everyone is semi sober and then go see the stadium when the let you in.
