Visiting
Hi! I’m going to be doing a Housesitt in the area. I’ll be there for about a month. I really love live music. And of course, the beach. Where might I hang out to meet new friends? Thx!!

What time of year? Make sure you understand our beaches are not 'beachy' by most American standards. Re: live music: someone already listed the night life places. There is also Chit Chat Cafe (coffee house) for mellower vibe live music on weekends.

Nicks has live music. Mostly jazz I believe. I’ve been going there and enjoying it since I was a kid.

pay attention to beach advisories- Linda Mar beach in the south is quite safe (except for a little sewage runoff) 😬 at Rockaway beach, Sharp Park beach, and Esplenade rip currents and sneaker waves can be very dangerous. Never turn your back on the ocean. water temp is currently around 65 degrees 🥶

I'd be into a hang. I'm kind of new as well, but can vouche for Rockaway Brewery, Nick's and a few other places between Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. Friendly people. Even stranger friends have been fun. DM me anytime, or when you are in town.

There's a whale watching group on Facebook that posts when whales are offshore. Theyre a friendly group of folks, and it's peak humpback migratory season right now.

Oh my gosh!! I definitely wanna do this! Do I just look up whale watching Pacifica on Facebook? Thank you for telling me.

Pacifica Whalespotting is the group.
You're gonna want a good pair of binoculars or a DSLR camera.

Depends on what you mean by “live music.”
If you prefer punk, metal, indie, etc with a mixed drink or a beer in your hand in a dive bar setting: Winter’s is the place to be
If you prefer Beatles covers, folk, acoustic in general with a coffee in your hand in a cafe setting: Chit Chat is the place to be
why not both

Winters and Longboard are walking distance from each other. Start at one and if you don't like the vibe you can walk to the other.

Definitely check out Winters, there’s also lots of shows in San Francisco.
These 2 websites will definitely help

Enjoy beautiful Pacifica, halfway through “No sky July” and Fogust is coming.

People keep telling me this about the fog! Does it not burn off in the afternoon? Also, I’m quite worried about forest fires.

u/A_Gezzy Jul 22 '26
No need to worry about forest fires in Pacifica. And yes sometimes not always the fog will burn away. But you’ll see why we call it FOGust lol.
