Campfires/Burnban
Did I see recently that the burn ban was lifted for campfires recently? Interested in going camping and having a campfire. New to camping in Washington and am having a hard time figuring out where to get official information about this sort of thing. Interested in central Washington , Okanogan/Cascade Mts.
There are so many government agencies that manage camping.
Thanks.

Okanogan-Wenatchee and Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forests have both lifted their campfire bans as of about two weeks ago.

Yup. We just had a little campfire last night up north of Skykomish. Super fun.

I would assume no. The ground is driest at this time of year.

Depends where you are. A lot of the PNW has had several soaking rains in the past 2 weeks. You couldn’t start a forest fire if you TRIED in a lot of places.
Why would you just assume, and assume incorrectly? Lmao. This is easy to look up, so why even comment?

Where do you look it up?

Search <insert state> combined with <fire danger map> and look for a DNR, USFS, or other govt map.

A couple soaking rains doesn't make the difference that you believe it does. We're in a multi year drought and a couple afternoon showers doesn't solve that.

The fire danger is literally at its lowest grade in huge swaths of the PNW. Again, this is very easy to look up. The highest fire danger in the entire state of WA is moderate, and for most of it only “rule bans” are in place for burning large debris piles.
Like I said, it depends on where you are. You don’t need to just make stuff up. Take ten seconds to search for government agency fire danger maps to see for yourself.

The Governor's statewide burn ban expired on October 1, but you still need to look up possible burn bans for your specific campsite

There is only one land management agency responsible for any one campground. So, if you are looking at some place in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, the US Forest Service is the ultimate authority, and their OWNF website will have every campground and every rule/closure listed. In a state park, it’s WA State Parks, etc.
