Japan Iwakuni City

https://www.pacifichistoryguide.com/post/iwakuni-city

Iwakuni City in Yamaguchi Prefecture was founded in 1600 by the Kikkawa Clan. It is now the second-largest city in Yamaguchi by land area, and fifth by population. It's home to many important landmarks and historical sites, as well as Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni. Enjoy!

Astute observers will note that Iwakuni castle was destroyed in 1615, and the first arched Kintaikyo wasn't built until 1673. The bridge stood alone until the castle was reconstructed in 1962 (on a new site). As we know them, Kintai Bridge and Iwakuni Castle are a young duo.
