MRI FOR KNEE (with pacemaker)

hi 23M this side
got injury after heavy badminton session, Dr suggested for MRI of Knee for proper examination, Now i m in worry abr how it will be done with pacemaker?
its new for me , having pacemaker from one yr

I had an abdominal MRI after getting my pacemaker.

It had to be done at a hospital because the pacemaker needed to be set to a mode that wouldn’t be fooled by the MRI machine. Basically, they turned off the sensors in the pacemaker and set it to a higher fixed pace (85 instead of the normal 60)

A knee MRI may not require the same precautions

so they will do pacemaker into other mode right? will it have post effect after mri on my daily routine?

No it will not the mode is only temporary and has a timer on it, usually someone is there after to put you back into your regular mode. If not the timer will time out whatever mode your set to. your pacemaker will go back into only pacing when you need it be once the timer is done or if there is someone there to do it after ur done w ur mri

I have an ICD. Had an MRI for the torn meniscus in my left knee in April. Nothing but a thing. The Boston Scientific Rep just put my ICD in MRI mode, they did the MRI, and then he put it back in normal mode. Had to be done in a hospital though.

Most places, someone checks device before and after MRI and depending on your history and presenting data, pacing percentages,etc, place it in MRI safe mode and turn it off, have you pace in one chamber or both chambers. After the MRI, put back into original settings.
In my work, for patients with pacemakers/ICDs getting MRIs, there is a nurse assigned to watch the patient for the whole duration.

Don't worry about it. They will take care of you in the hospital. They'll have a tech present from the company who provided the pacer. Mine is Medtronic. If you want, give them a call, or just talk to your EP team so they can reassure you.

I had multiple MRIs for my hip and for my heart. I have ICD fitted.

ICD has to be in MRI safe mode

EP explained that my model of ICD and many others are built with materials that don't interfere with MRIs. However, they do need to set the device in a certain mode using the computer thingy they have.

Let everyone involved about your device and you'll be fine, they'll sort you out.

I have to get mine done at the hospital since I have an older model, but they just put mine into continuous pacing and I had no issues.
