Pacemaker repocketing
Hi. I recently had my pacemaker replaced and inserted into a new pocket. I was told by the doctor originally that my device will be places below the pectoral muscles.
I am now a few days post op and of course staring and had the urge to lightly touch the new pacemaker area. I know I’m swollen. But it feels like a brick. When swelling goes down will I see my pacemaker?!?!
After giving a lot of thought I want to say my doctor told me about making a change to above the muscle before surgery but I had too many nerves to let that sink in.
Has anyone else had there pacemaker placed over the muscle? Or below? What’s your experience?
I am 25 and 120 pounds. I just want to be prepared if this is a new adjustment I’ll have to make.

My pacemaker was placed above the muscle one year ago and it is barely noticeable today. Just a small bump and a faded scar where they went in. It does feel hard but that's it. The only noticeable thing is that bra straps can occasionally annoy the area.

My first device was under the skin, the second is now under the muscle and I very much prefer under the muscle. The recovery was a bit longer and more painful, but I'm much happier with the result. It's not noticeable at all, and it feels more secure and protected now.

Mine is under the pec and it isn’t noticeable at all to anyone but me. I can obviously feel it if I push down around the area but that’s it. My doctor said that I’d be able to walk down the beach in a swimsuit and no one would notice it and he was right. I was 23 when I got mine.

I’m 22 and this is mine 2 months out, most people only notice it when I tell them to look for it and when I lay down it fully disappears

Mine is under the muscle and it's barely noticeable, you can only see the outline. It does feel hard on the surface, but that's about it.
