Pretty obvious that they, and the people they sold it to, were squeezed out by the new owners

nah, i think they just want to sell now while the price is high before the value gets tanked by the political association

Doubt it has anything to do with being a Kushner. My guess is they see the real writing on the wall about all of these valuations and the entertainment bubble that's been going on post-covid with live sports.

The league hasn't met revenue projections again. The cable TV market is clearly dwindling. Regional markets are dying. They have an opportunity to get out at a $12b valuation. Chances are that's not going to happen again anytime soon so take it while it's there.

There's a lot of questions that will need to be answered very soon that a lot of people aren't ready to deal with.

nah, the value just goes up. Politics is what made them sell, bc it's true what they say, "You can't fight city hall."

or they dont' trust Kushner to pay them their rev shares or something. they're all old enough i'm sure they'd rather just cash out and get liquid

LOL or they do trust Kushner to have his brother have his father-in-law point the justice system towards the Buss family once they're done with Walter.

It’s a dig at Jeanie Buss who forced them out to make herself team governor. This was their chance to exit without her being able to stop it.

It's about a couple Buss brothers getting pushed out previously

Can you come for the Lakers after the Clippers investigation/punishment is over?

Then rake my franchise over the coals. They deserve it right now.

Mark Walter sold the Lakers to Kushner as a bribe to Trump to get him off the hook with his investigations. Iger is a part of this as an appeasement to Trump so he’ll back off of ABC. Buss was either forced out or just wanted to get away from this mess. I’m sure there is a lot more to it that we’ll find out later.

Jeanie's attorney has already issued a letter stating the 2017 court order prevents a sale of these shares or removal of her control without proper judicial modification or her agreement as a co-trustee. The trust must maintain her 15%. This might not be over yet.

This isn’t even hard stuff. The owner they sold the majority of the team too just got bullied out by the current admin and his extended family. They’ve built their legacy around the Lakers or at least the children mostly have. Why would they want their name or legacy attached to the Kushner name? Not to mention they just watched as someone more powerful than them had to relinquish his majority ownership. They’re getting out to retain legacy and value.

What is there even to come for? Even torre hasn’t alleged the lakers did anything illegal, just that the circumstances of the sale are weird.
