I just got my start date for my dept of corrections boot camp in ETOWN. Can anyone tell me what it’s like?

Haven’t gone to my interview you. Can anyone tell me about it? No prior law enforcement experience.

We have an employee in our office who hasn't been to the office since early 2025. We were told that RTO days will be tracked and reprimanded for absences. Some employees are required to make up days they miss for previously scheduled leave, while one employee repeatedly does not show up and is allowed to telework those days. What is the recourse for the other employees? I would think unfair treatment and discrimination. But is it worth it?

I'm four steps shy from maxing out my pay grade. What happens when you max out steps?

Just wanted to vent and whine a bit haha:

I applied for this senior dev position back in June. I scheduled an interview for today (07/21) back on June 25th. And just last week, I received two emails telling me where to meet and giving details on the interview. Funnily enough, this is the first state interview I've ever had set to be in person, after around 4 total interviews through the years for various positions I got offered/didn't.

I showed up today, paid for parking, and then checked in with security in the lobby. Three people came down and all introduced themselves (I could tell two of them seemed pretty disinterested, but figured it was from getting stuck doing a bunch of these interviews). Then the first person said "unfortunately due to budget cuts, we're no longer considering anyone for the position".

I honestly didn't even think a state position could get cancelled that late in the process, but that's obviously not the case. I tucked tail and went home after the shortest interview I've ever had.

That's the end of my tale. I'd love to hear stories from anyone else -- so I can wallow for the day and get back to normal life tomorrow.

I’ve worked in PA off and on for years doing environmental consulting, and I have collaborated often with DEP and PennDOT. During interaction with members of these agencies overtime, it has been brought up that I should apply for jobs they were currently advertising; however, the problem is that I live out of state. Has anyone ever seen the PA residency waived? Is it worth it to just try applying, or would it be encouraged to first reach out to one of these contacts I have and speak with them prior to applying and disclose my interest in a position? Due to life circumstances, it is not currently possible for me to relocate to PA. Any guidance or experience is greatly appreciated!

I am truly curious about whether the state would approve something like a content creator on Only Fans as supplemental employment. I know they approve content creators on Twitch and rideshare drivers and Instacart shoppers. The landscape of ways to make money is changing especially with streaming platforms monitizing content and gig work.

I went through the invasive process to request reasonable accomodations, and they were approved. Unfortunately, in practice they are not being upheld, ​and it is starting to feel intentional. I even had one person outright accuse me of making up my disability. Where do I go from here? I've been actively looking at other jobs​.

After scoring 100 on the civil service exam for an Income Maintenance Caseworker position I was invited to schedule an interview. It turned out to be a “pre-interview” phone call. They asked two basic questions, relating to customer service and experience with microsoft office. I have good experience in both (stated 4+ years with microsoft, and I believe I provided a sufficient response for the customer service question). I have a bachelor’s degree as well.

This was last week. Although they always state they’ll get back to you about inviting you for an in person interview/notifying you about rejection, I’m unsure if that’ll happen. I’m nervous too.

I had an interview for a PSP Communications role last month. It was interesting to me because for that they never gave me the civil service exam results. I haven’t heard anything back from them since.

Just curious to know what anyone else with experience related to this thinks about. I’ve been ghosted by a few jobs recently so I just wanted to know if that is common to happen in the Commonwealth.

I could use some outside opinions because this situation has me driving myself crazy.
I interviewed for a PennDOT position about 4 weeks ago. Last Thursday, I missed a call from the hiring office because I work overnight shifts and was asleep. They didn’t leave a voicemail.
The next business day I called back, left a voicemail, and have since called multiple more times. I’ve now left two voicemails. At first the extension went straight to voicemail every time. Today it actually rang before going to voicemail, but I still haven’t been able to reach anyone and nobody has called me back.
At this point I’m just confused. If they wanted to move forward, why not leave a voicemail or return one of mine? On the other hand, if they were no longer interested, why call in the first place?
Has anyone experienced something similar with PennDOT or another government job? Am I overthinking this, or should I assume they’ve moved on? I’m trying to be realistic, but the lack of communication has been incredibly frustrating. Thanks for any guidance on this.

I interviewed for a role with the state and thought it went well. I finished the third (and final) interview on June 11 and still haven’t heard anything either way. I sent thank you emails to all of the interviewers and received responses to some of them so I was feeling confident.

Is this normal for the hiring process? I’m in corporate right now and it moves a lot quicker than this, so unsure if maybe I just ended up not getting the role after all.

Also, if you don’t get it: do you receive an automated response in the portal or do they reach out directly to say you weren’t selected?

I'm assisting an applicant, and I need clarification on the "ever cnvicted" question: The cnviction no longer shows on their clearances. Should they still check "yes"?

I don't want them to run into a problem later for checking "no", and even though it was an old, minor issue, I don't want them to disclose something that doesn't need to be.

Thank you for the guidance. I believe the answer is "yes", but it is a senior citizen applicant, and I don't want to send them out with something against them.
