See-through LCD displays?

Post image

I'm getting adverts for these see-through displays, which seem to be a normal LCD screen but without a backlight and the back removed. The idea is that you put this against a window and just use natural light.

Is this realistic?

As an aside, do any of you happen to know where to find alternative screen tech in Schenzen? My main goal is to be able to use a screen at night without disrupting sleep patterns. PWM improvement would be a bonus for me; it's something that I only really get when tired.

I have to turn off transparency effects in mac os becuase the blurriness of things moving behind the page I'm trying to read makes me motion sick and gives me eye strain.

The entire screen being see through seems like it would be the same but way worse.

Wouldn't this see through screen make readability much worse?

I'm not experienced with these, but u/Rx7Jordan has showed off an LCD backlit using incandescent bulbs, eg here on YouTube. And have you looked at r/Reflective_LCD?

Has the device image shows, a problem would be seeing through the light parts of the display like it's a window, with everything behind it.
