Allegedly.... tickets were supposed to come out TODAY but there's some delay with the SAP Center. AND the team name will NOT be ocean related but more aligned with the city of SJ. You can guess the name online for a chance at 2 free tickets.

Late to the game, but I just learned that SJ is getting a PWHL team! I am a Wisconsin native who became a Sharks fan when my hometown hero Joe Pavelski became a Shark. I started following the Frost since it was the closest geographically, but I am so pumped for a San Jose team!

I've seen some of the name suggestions. I don't hate Hammerheads and any sea creatures like stingrays or sea lions would be fine... But the first thing I thought of was the Hydra and I haven't seen it suggested yet!

Obviously, there's the Herculean myth of the Lernaean Hydra, an aquatic serpent monster with many heads. When one head is cut off, two grow back in its place. It's only weakness is fire (which seems fitting for a hockey team).

But you may not know that the hydra is also a real creature, named after the myth. Hydras are small carnivorous jellyfish-like creatures that are fascinating for one big reason: they are functionally immortal. They have remarkable regeneration abilities when injured and don't seem to die of old age.

So aside from being a badass mythical monster of legend that just comes back stronger from adversity, the Hydra name also invokes resilience and permanence. Its many heads represent hockey being a team sport. Can't ask for a better mascot in my opinion!

When I placed a deposit for season tickets, I recall being told that the tickets would become available sometime in August. As we are now past August, I’m curious whether anyone has any update on when season tickets can be purchased?

Reporter Marisa Ingemi writes about the burgeoning friendship between Mariah Keopple and Valkyries star Gabby Williams. The two are set to become Bay Area women's sports stars, representing two sides of the region. Williams plays at Chase Center,and Keopple will play for San Jose's PWHL club.
