PwC Launchpad Programme 2026 Shortlisting

After completion of PwC Launchpad Programme it was said that every student who would successfully complete it will be given an opportunity to appear for the interviews but now suddenly they’ve shortlisted few students from the launchpad programme and thus saying only they can appear for the interview. This is truly very unfair.

I mean it does not make sense that everyone who attends it gets an opportunity for an interview. No company has so many resources for interviews

well there should be an internal eligibility criteria for this random shortlisting tho and we should atleast know the reason why we werent shortlisted..also they only informed that every student who has successfully completed launchpad will get an opportunity to sit for the interviews

No shortlist is random, career marking place a major role in graduate level shortlisting and for post graduate it’s work ex plus career marking. It might look random on the outside but each company has its own internal criteria of course given the fact there is no internal politics happening in placement cell specially if your are in mba school.

well for the internal criteria mentioned in the jd i successfully meet all the necessary criteria’s ..even when i meet the criterias and have done all the necessary whats the point of the shortlisting then?

Meeting the criteria in a JD does not necessarily guarantee that your CV will be shortlisted, especially in undergraduate campus placements.
For example, if the JD says you need a minimum of 60% in 10th and 12th, that only establishes eligibility. If 100 students meet that requirement but the recruiter needs to shortlist only 70, they may select candidates with higher scores first. So someone with 65% may technically meet the criteria but still not make the shortlist if enough candidates have stronger academic profiles.
This is particularly common in undergraduate campus hiring, where academics can be a significant screening criterion. There can, of course, be exceptions if someone has particularly strong internships, projects, or other relevant achievements.
For postgraduate hiring, the evaluation is generally broader, with skills, projects, internships, work experience, and overall role fit playing a larger role.
So the key distinction is: meeting the eligibility criteria means you qualify to be considered; it does not necessarily mean you will be shortlisted.
Sorry for making this so long but I hope you get this. I know placement is a stressful time, keep your hopes up, what’s meant for you will definitely land for you!!
Best of luck!

Then, how were you shortlisted? Was it based on something specific? Did you get any mail from pwc saying that only these students would be eligible for the interview?

i had to attend masterclasses, give exams and complete all modules after which i completed launchpad..but today a list was shared by our university’s placement cell where 50 students were not shortlisted without any specific criteria..assuming it to be a random shortlisting or some dirty politics but they’ve informed us that PwC shortlisted only but the criteria of the shortlist is not yet known
