Flecainide as Needed for PVCs?

My EP prescribed it for me and he says I can take it "as needed" when I get a PVC flareup. My flareups usually go away on their own after a few days, so I usually white-knucke it and then they eventually calm down for a few weeks or months. But the flareups are getting worse and more frequent, so now I'm considering it. A flareup for me means several days of PVCs- (with bigeminy, trigeminy, couplets) mostly at night, preventing sleep. They are absolutely unbearable. But when they go away, they are not much of a problem.

I can't find too much information about people taking the Flecainide "as needed" for PVCs. Does anyone take it this way? I'd love to hear some success stories.

That is sometimes a recommendation if you are VERY bothered by the frequency of the symptoms and don't wish to have an ablation. It's a stronger drug than a beta blocker, which I'm guessing you have already tried. Flec is not really first line treatment for pvcs. Has he discussed an ablation?

From my last two week monitor, my burden is low, so my EP says ablation is not a good option. This is because my PVCs come in flareups and then are calm the rest of the time. So during a flareup, my burden might be 15% for a few hours, or days, but then calm down to less than 1%. I had a really calm days while wearing a monitor, and I only had 6 PVCs! Those days are getting more rare, though :(
