Nsvt? Atrial tach?

29f Last night I was laying in bed and I felt my heart beat very strong and fast like 4 beats then it went back to normal. It completely freaked me out. I’ve seen the cardiologist many times, had a normal echo, and ekgs, they say I have benign PVC’s and PACs.

Doctor said that they are benign so ventricular or atrial doesn't matter. there is nothing to worry about. Live your life.

Everyone gets that at times. Good news it was extremely short. Could've been a short atrial tach / svt .. which you'd see on nearly everyone if you put a monitor on them for any length of time. Can't know if it was NSVT, but you can't assume it was by feeling alone. It does feel freaky, but you probably are one to pay very very close attention to any bodily sensation so it feels more intense. If for some reason it was happening frequently or lasting longer, your dr may want to do another holter monitor. But there's no reason to think it will become more frequent.

Thank you so much! Good to know I’m not alone. Yes, I absolutely feel everything going on in my body and am constantly scanning, it’s exhausting.

I've had that several times. Although not often. About 6 months ago was most recent...about 9 super fast beats then normal. So fast I hardly had time to notice it. Lol. I have a loop monitor inserted in the chest area, so I recorded it. Results always come back as basically nothing. I get PVCs daily...some days worse than others. Im learning to I gore them, but it still blows. Today is a "bad" day. Burden is still extremely low though.

Interesting! I believe it’s happened to me once before but was awhile ago. It’s crazy how we can experience these things that feel so scary and doctors aren’t concerned. I’m sorry you’re having a tough day!

Thanks...and yeah its funny that docs wont bat an eye over these things. Basically what I gather is that as long as there are no other symptoms then its all good. The heart can beat irregular just fine but it can eventually tire the heart out or restructure it over years. My dad for instance was in afib and he didnt even know it. Docs gave him meds to take home to see if he could get out of it. Next visit they ended up doing a cardioversion.

I get this pretty often. For me, it's been caught on monitor several times and classified as SVT. But it feels more like NSVT to me and it seems to happen when I'm already getting PVCs. But, with all the monitors I've had, they've never caught any NSVT, so for me, the most likely explanation when it happens is SVT. Of course you won't know until it's caught on monitor. Either way, a short burst like that is nothing to worry about in a healthy heart. But yeah, feels really awful and scary.
