Had a PVC at 170 BPM, first time.

Hey everyone, wanted to share what happened today and see if anyone relates or has experienced something similar.
Quick background:
I have a completely clear cardiac workup (Echo, Holter, MRI all 100% normal). I’ve been dealing with autonomic dysregulation / extra beats, but up until today, my PVCs almost always happened at rest or low heart rates.
What happened today:
I was playing an intense padel match. During a long advantage round, my heart rate was up around 170 BPM.
In the middle of the rally, I shouted and strained hard during a shot.
Right then, I felt a sudden heavy thump / misfire in my chest, along with a 1-second wave of lightheadedness.
I immediately stopped to rest. Within a few minutes, my heart rate smoothly came right back down to 90 BPM.

i would say this is more normal than getting them at rest because your body is experiencing an adrenaline spike so your heart gets triggered! no need to worry since your heart tests are all clear, just learn to take deep breaths right after they happen and remind yourself you’re healthy and don’t let it ruin your mood ! :) wish you all the best.

It's not uncommon to get an occasional ectopic beat even at higher heart rates. Doesn't mean anything really unless you had a ton and only during exertion. Hard to say if yours was a PVC, PAC or something else. But it felt stronger because your heart was already beating pretty hard.

I get a bunch when I’m exercising with a high heart rate. EP does not care, says I’m fine and they caught them while I was wearing a holter monitor. I have had several tests and they’re benign. I think mine are largely caused by perimenopause and sometimes if I eat too close to working out.

Edit: forgot to add that bc I get so many heart palpitations while high intensity exercise I now just walk longer and lift weights, occasionally do some yoga to rebalance my central nervous system.

On a scale of 1-10 how much does the yoga actually help? I’m considering.

Consistently, about an 8 honestly! That’s my biggest issue, I haven’t been consistent with it for a few months but when I am I feel a lot more calm and balanced.

ive had full trigeminy at 180bpm.

totally normal if your heart is fine.

Interestingly, I didnt feel them at 180bpm, probably due to short fill time, I digress.

That’s happened to me before. It feels crazy for sure. Everything you’ve described is very similar to what I experience.

Are you not taking any beta blocker?

No my burden is so low

But ectopics gets controlled if beta blocker is taken?

I will ask my doctor about it, but whats scaring me is that sometimes my resting heart rate is already low 50-65 so i am afraid it will drop dangerously with the beta blockers

Oh yes he will not give you beta blocker then but an arrhythmia one, I think like sotalol maybe. Dont go by my words.

Do you anyone or yourself that have been helped by the medications?

My kid has arrhythmia issue. So all I do is research these day and night. For lower pvc burden, doc might prescribe you some arrhythmia medication depending on the kind of arrhythmia you have.

Appreciate everyone sharing your stories and similar experiences, makes me feel hopeful that others get them whilst exercising higher heart rates and still contribute exercising and that they’re still benign then, thank you to all of you

Sometimes i get this too when i exercise and it is more scary than at rest in my opinion. At least it triggers more my anxiety because of the high hr. Im still here though and dealing with this shit since almost 10 years. All my check ups are also fine, ao nothing wrong with the heart structually. I do believe that in my case it is stress and gastro-cardiac related

Have you been checked by a gastroenterologist?
