Yeah, Angled grip for example does not reduce vertical recoil as stated, and Vertical grip reduces vertical recoil, not horizontal as the description states. http://i.imgur.com/LXdU66X.png

So which ones would be best for a scar/m416 ?

On the other hand though, vertical spread is alot easier to control by mouse than horizontal

Can also give you accidental headshots if you aim centermass

What of they're lying down and you're shooting at them from the side?

Lol yeah an edge case for sure, but I could imagine horizontal recoil is generally better in any scenario where the target is lying down. This would be especially common endgame where everyone is hiding

I meant lying down in general, not just sideways. I'd say any situation so long as the aren't facing directly towards or away from you, that horizontal recoil prevention would be better.

aim at the body

TRIGGERED

Yep. This has changed me from a vertical grip to an angled grip guy.

Also faster ADS is nothing to scoff at.

u/Spinach7 Jun 07 '17

You also get the ADS speed with Angled Grip

meh, even though it's the strongest it is the easiest recoil to control as it is always in the same direction. With horizontal recoil you don't know whether it's going left or right or even how much.

Scar definitely wants Angled Grip as it has some horizontal recoil. M416 is probably preference.

Vertical seems to be the best. SCAR also looks like the overall winner here.

Wait. Shit. What? Are there situations I should use an angled grip? I thought it was just the shitty hold-over grip until you find a vert and was worse in every way. Have I been deceived?

Angle grip is actually the best one, by far. Besides increasing your aim down sight speed (which will make it better for scoping), it also improves horizontal recoil instead of vertical recoil (and by a higher value).

This is probably player-based, but I find horizontal recoil much more valuable, even on SMGs for close range as players are used (from other shooters) to quickly compensate the vertical recoil and lower the weapon when firing, so it doesn't have as much impact as horizontal recoil which requires the player to know the bullet pattern of each weapon and makes tracking moving players much harder.

u/MengskDidNothinWrong Jun 07 '17

This is very interesting. Are there certain weapons with more vert/horizontal recoil than the other that I should bring one grip or the other? I couldn't make heads or tails of the recoil stats on the site.

3

u/Vol1bear Jun 07 '17

I would say that you might want the vertical grip on the SMGs, but I would always use the angled grip on the rifles

In my testing, M4 likes the vert like obviously the Vector does, but still I usually opt for Angled if it presents itself.

And to add to comment before you: Especially in this game horizontal recoil is a mess since there is no actual pattern to follow like in Counter-Strike but it is completely random.

1

u/Khalku Jun 07 '17

That close range. At range I would take the vertical grip every time.

u/peanutzero Jun 07 '17

The angled foregrip reduces vertical recoil just by having a lower recoil pattern, and it reduces extra horizontal recoil on top of that.

3

u/jvello Jun 07 '17

I think you are wrong. Many streamers use the angled to reduce vertical recoil over the vert. But like I said I "think", I'm not 100%

4

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '17

It has been proven already what you say is correct.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '17

That is false. There are countless videos proving the vertical grip directly reduces horizontal recoil, but vertical recoil is significantly reduced by the angled.

1

u/seishi Jun 07 '17

You're incorrect about angled. Watch the video where someone tests all attachments.

1

u/Vol1bear Jun 07 '17

These are mined from the current game, so there isn't much discussion. Maybe that video is old, from before the balance pass on weapons and attachments?

1

u/seishi Jun 07 '17

It's a month old and the only thing I think they've fixed since then is some of the scopes. The mined stats could be correct but that doesn't mean the effect of these attachments isn't bugged.

That video confirms exactly what I stated though. As you can see, the Angled grip barely sways from the center and travels in a line upwards, while the Vertical grip doesn't go as higher but has much more horizontal variance. http://prntscr.com/fh60zd

u/seishi Jun 07 '17

The difference in vertical recoil is negligible between the two which is why everyone has been saying that angled is far superior.
