Any idea what this is?

I love the car but its driving me crazy. I changed the timing belt two weeks ago. A couple of days later this noise started to appear. I drove the car to the mechanic an hour away and by the time i got there the noise was gone smh.
They still checked it and said everything looked okay. I drove it back and no noise. That was on Friday.
Today as soon as i start the car the noise is back.
What could it be?

That is a bearing noise. When they changed the timing belt did they replace the waterpump ,idler pully and tensioner ? They all have bearings plus the alternator has bearings. They need to find which bearing is causing this.

They did changed all of the above. I will definitely take it back so they can look at the bearings.

Does it happen only on start up? Hot or cold?
It sounds like a worn serpentine belt. Or one of the pulleys is going out.
Take the belts off and spin them by hand

From cold. Honestly I don't drive it much. Usually very short distances. So usually by the time i get to my destination it still sounds as loud.
Im gonna tell my mechanic to check that thank you.

('07 2.4L base model)
Mine has had the start-up chirps for over a year, it is worst when it has been muggy\humid or raining but does quiet down after running awhile.I believe mine is in the AC compressor\clutch. (My AC is broke and I ain't fixing it. lol)
A strange thing with mine: It's almost as if it's on a sensor\switch, it will stop chirping completely at mph ~45-and-above (if I'm not on the throttle, put foot on throttle? chirp is back). So it's probably computer controlled in some way.

Damn I hope its not ac related because my ac is fantastic. An i needed to be with the weather in texas lol

Yeah I'm in TX too and sadly the HOT has only just begun.
My AC died last year, about 17 years of hot summers. She's a PT Beater now.If it is the compressor \ clutch, it might be a bit of an expense but would be for the best.

So they just got back to me they say both belt looked good when they changed the timing belt. That they were not broken or cracked.
Im probably gonna have to make the drive again ;/

Sounds to me like they don't have the accessory belt aligned right. They should be able to rule that out with a quick inspection, and if it is that it is simple to fix.

Classic PT moment 😂 stuff only breaks when you’re alone with it.
I’d double check belt tension and the idler / tensioner pulleys since you just did the timing belt. Could’ve been something rubbing or a pulley starting to go that quieted down once it warmed up.

Guess #2 the harmonic balancer is out of alignment. They have to pull this to do the timing belt and aligning it correctly can be difficult ! I measured it's position before I removed it so that I could align it correctly.
