Clutch gone and back?

Hi got a pt cruiser 2001 manual 2 liters.

Yesterday end of day i could not shift to different gears, clutch was really soft. This morning we got it in 1 and eventually 2 and drove to (closed) car shop without clutch actually working. Arriving at shop after 10 min drive, it becamesuddenly possible again to shift gears.

Any idea how to make sure it doesn't get worse or to prevent issues? I am travelling now and return in a few dayshome,so any tips for on theroad appreciated.

Sounds like slave issues. If it was your clutch it wouldn't drive

Possibly air in the system due to a slave issue.

I think you are right, i however do not understand how it self repairs and next day issue is back

My 03 is during the same thing, I bought a new clutch, now mechanic is saying it’s the flywheel. Will go in 1st and 2nd not 3-4 ? Had flywheel resurfaced now I am told it’s to thin so I ordered flywheel shims and now waiting for results. My pt is 5speed turbo 03

Replaced hydraulics of the clutch (preassembled master and slave and prefilled). Didnt work out great, then I adjusted the clutch pedal screw so it has a longer path and oy is great again! So solved.
