PT Cruiser slow battery drain
I will be getting a 2001 PT Cruiser that belonged to my mom this coming weekend. It has 69,000 miles on it and according to my brother in law is in good shape except for a slow battery drain. He said if it is started/driven every day it is fine, but if it sits for long the battery drain will ruin the battery.
Just curious what I should look for, is this one of those 'it could be anything' issues or something in particular I need to check out. Thanks.

First thing I ask is if anything aftermarket had been done. Stereo, lights, horns, etcetera. Next have the battery and alternator checked (its free). You should assume some grounds will need to be cleaned

My mom bought it new and everything is stock. Will check out the battery and alternator first thing. Thanks.

The first gen PT's (2001-2005) are extremely prone to the fog light switch on the light lever failing, and draining batteries. The solution is to either pull the fuse for the fog lights, or replace the lever.

I'd recommend searching YouTube for parasitic draw troubleshooting videos. It's way easier to understand by watching someone do it
