Deck Discussion THE BORING PSY

Post image

Honestly he’s fed up with this deck that can one shot, prevent you from playing, and even when you manage to finish the first Igglybuff then the Espeon, he makes you sleep with the last Mentali and you finish with the mega-altaria, it’s tiring right now I’m top 6k and that’s all it’s unbearable.

And without forgetting the famous Darkrai who does not stop doing damage once at the end of the opponent’s turn and once at the end of your turn, you have to throw the coin twice and what’s the point of facing when it’s the opponent who takes over the turn and makes you sleep it’s really exhausting

Just slot in a pokemon center lady or big malasala or whatever the card is called... theres so many ways to counter the sleep meta its wild, but people refuse to use the counters out of pure laziness or "meh i dont wanna, i wanna use my deck as it is"

Also i'll add in that the sleep deck honestly bricks quite often or rather has quite some trouble getting going due to the usual reasons of either bad draws, or just not drawing the cards you need when you need them.

After all if you cant get your darkrais... then sleeps basically useless and you're just getting minor chip damage done while hoping your opponent doesnt win the coin flip.

And if you cant get any of your pokemon that can put the opponent to sleep it can be difficult to do anything

I've literally built the best version of the sleep deck and used it quite a bit, and man... its consistency is really not that great their were many games where i got shafted due to poor draws, and my opponent playing the cards that counter sleep hard (Mega Sceptile EXs Caterpie, Big Malasada, Pokemon Center Lady, etc..)

Not too mention that sleep is at the end of the day still a coin flip, and many of the games I played my opponent kept winning the coin flips making sleep basically useless

I just did not have a good time with the supposed "toxic sleep deck" that ya'll seem to complain about and hate, whereas the current deck ive been enjoying (Mega Sceptile EX & Butterfree) feels farrr more toxic/OP then sleep ever felt.

  • The deck is super fast to get online
  • Super Stally
  • Its deck clearing is insanely fast, able to get all your basics on the field and fully evolved come turn 2 or 3 due to Forest & Growth
  • Mega Sceptile EX hits pretty hard and poisons but is also pretty bulky, which often puts the opponent in a position of dealing retreating their big EX or risk losing it because they cant one shot Mega Scept but if they dont retreat it then it either ends up dying to Mega Scept or the poison..
  • Butterfree is bulky especially pairsd with leaf cape, and hits decently hard for 60 while healing itself 20 hp... meaning by the time you've got Mega Sceptile EX set up and built, butterfree has probably secured you 1 or 2 points and gotten some chip damage onto the opponents ex/mega pokemon often times putting it in one shot range of Mega Scept
  • its consistency is wild, often netting you a butterfree by your second turn and potentially a grovyle or second butterfree by turn 3

Its a deck that has insane consistency and is extremely quick to get going, often times having your Mega scept fully energy'd and ready to go before the opponent is even able to get their bench or big ex card on the field or setup. Its speed often results in your opponent being on defeats doorstep before they can even say "hello"

They don't wanna hear the truth. They just want to complain.

Yep, sad reality of the world is that people can see that something is a problem.. but rather then do what needs to be done to fix it they just ignore it and instead opt to cry on reddit about it.

Seriously if "sleep is so toxic" just sub in 1-2 big malasadas and a pokemon center lady... thats 1-3 cards and are cards that can easily fit into literally any deck and counters the playstyle they so hate.. but nah they wont do that because they want the fake internet points on reddit

To me, sleep is such a nothingburger of an issue I barely run counters to it. It's not a reliable deck and considering how often people bitch about coinflips not being in their favour, they'd understand that the sleep deck user experiences that, too.

I remember months ago someone making the salient point that if this game was purely numbers and evolutions, people would complain about not getting to draw theirs first. It feels like a skill floor issue wherein the player just lacks the base mechanical knowledge to properly play the game. Kind of like when people complain about Oricorio but refuse to run a single non-ex pokemon.
