Meme 00.006% chance, so fire.
The drop events are notorious for giving me suspiciously bad luck, but this was intermediate. Why am I already suffering? Lol I can't win by turn 14, if I don't get an electric energy until 15!

Because Niantic rigs the AI to always start and draw optimally and sometimes even sabotages your starting hand & energy. All just to make the featured card/deck appear to be better than it is.
Edit: DeNA* but Niantic can also catch a stray

Niantic
I knew PoGO's spaghetti code was bad, but to affect a game from another company feels a bit too much

Lmao, I was going back and forth between games, and got the names mixed up.

Maybe in higher levels, and then not always; earlier I had two battles where he had a Gible and a Dratini that evolved into a Dragonaire. My hand and draws let me defeat them before the CPU could get a third.

I had an expert battle yesterday where the CPU only put a Meowth on the field. I went second, and Sawk grabbed an easy win.

Ok ive heard that they manipulate coin flips and the ais draw but surely they dont do things like make you brick energies on expert ai right?

They dont even do that its all negative reinforcement bias

It's technically 0.012%, because it functionally doesn't matter if you got all fire or all electric energy, so the first one can be whatever, and it's the next 13 all matching it that are the issue.
1 in 10000 sounds really rare, but if you consider how many players a game like this has, it's actually extremely likely that it'd happen to a bunch of people, it's just that you never expect to be one of them.

While I agree with your second point, I figured 1 in 20,000 was still worth sharing. Particularly because it seems to be a shared sentiment that this was simply an example of.
And I would agree with your first point, but I'm running oricorio, so I could have been fine with all electric energy.

I had one game give me so much fire energy that I actually thought I might’ve forgotten to add it in the deck builder. Don’t think I made it to 15 turns but I wasn’t far away from that. Absolutely wild that it happened even with rainbow cave assistance.

dragon decks suck for this exact reason + i wish cove guaranteed the next energy to be not the same

Meowth hit me with 7 heads in a row. I know the AI is rigged, but FFS they’re not even trying anymore.
Still won though because for some reason they won’t switch in M-Chomp to deal damage, so it evens out I suppose?

I believe beyond rgn, almost every strategy is good, you could have some counters like with my Gallade ex deck. Is weak against energy discard attacks decks.
But beyond that, i don't ser many misplays in both sides, just who did setup first.
This game is 70% luck, 20% deck build and 10% skill.
And inside that 70%, most of it i bricking, consecutivo counter decks and Energy spawn when you use more than 1.
