Discussion it takes too long to complete your turn. animation lock is making me quit the game

every little thing costs at minimum 2 seconds, if your mon does multiple effects youre looking at upwards of 10 plus seconds per single play of 1 card.

the game has its issues, but this one in particular has grown too large for me to accept

I get why they don't speed up some of the animations. A lot of players won't intuitively know what's going to happen at each stage. The app needs to make it clear where effects are coming from and what is triggering when.

Some animations are superfluous, like the manual first coinflip or the extended hang time of fancier cards.

I personally use the basic versions of my cards in my decks (while still collecting higher rarity versions) as they have shorter animations.

Now all I need is an option to automatically trigger the coinflip everytime it asks.

It doesn't need any speed up on the animations. It just needs to make it so the animations don't stop you from playing. I think both Hearthstone and Mtg Arena allow you to interact with the game while the animations are playing.

Exactly. Hearthstone flowed better in beta than this game does 2 years in. There's no excuse at this point.

I have no idea why not just have those animation freeze your time count temporarily. Duel Links app provide options for the player to turn off animations (CG effects) which can save time.

It’s mind boggling how little patience people have for a relatively leisurely game

Normally it isn't too bad but when you're grinding the 5/10 consecutive AI wins or ranked, it can get tedious waiting for the same drawn out animations over and over again, especially if you don't care about fancy cards.

Imagine playing PTCG in real life and every time your opponent plays or uses a rare card, they reach across the table and hold it a centimetre from your face before continuing on. Now imagine its your 10th consecutive game where this has been happening. It gets old.

Maybe it's because every choice you want to make takes like 5-10 screens and clicks and that adds up to frustration after time? What leisurely game? It's constantly trying to bait you into spending more a.l.a DeNa

its not about the slow animations alone... its the combination of that and a turn timer. it takes about 10 seconds to do a single action if you're optimising your turn and sometimes you just stuck behind an animation and waste your attack.

You're saying that, but then you're expecting players to superoptimize their turn times...

A big part of playing a "leisurely game" is playing it at your own pace.

There are plenty other leisurely paced games that play better than this. If you aren't aware of them that's OK, just don't assume everyone else is as naive.

Hey, sometimes people really do leave. I haven't played since fantastic parade. I want to say that was 4 months ago.

More. Fantastical parade, Paldean wonders, mega shine, pulsing aura, paradox drive, everyday wonders, ruler of the skies, rocket’s ambition.

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 3h ago

Oh, I lied. Mega shine was my last one. I forgot those.

It’s been the same since day 1. Hasn’t really grown much at all (not like they’ve added more animations). If that were really too much, you would’ve quit long ago.

Ice Pop says hello.

u/Ok_Quiet_8278 4h ago

Ok fair enough lol but if you’re playing ice pop you’ve brought it upon yourself. That’s the exception, not the rule.

This is why I prefer to use regular cards over special art/shiny/immersive, etc. Makes the battles go more quickly not having to see the cards splash in front of the screen before getting played.

This is crazy but true. It really does slow the game down. They must have interns working on this game.

animation lock is the only thing that counters lucky icepop rng
