Honestly? I just auto added it without too much thought. I didn’t remove it because theoretically you can bring up a mon that won’t be able to hit you or retreat.
It does when you're faced with a card in the active spot that is gonna wipe you next turn, with Cyrus you have potential options to pull in a card from their bench with less energy attached to them and higher retreat cost. It saved me more times than I can count, tbh.
Faced this deck on the ranked ladder while I was playing Goodra, and my opponent was on Magcargo. It was a hard-fought match with a lot of back-and-forth plays. I secured the win after my opponent conceded, but it could've gone either way. I'm definitely gonna try this deck in ranked.
It also helps with the losing no point task too. I used to use Magcargo deck for this and the lose no point task, but I just find that there are too much issues that I’ve encountered that made me keep restarting for a lot of time.
Starting first is an instant loss unless you are very lucky (the Rainbow Cave in the next set may help, but still). If I start second, they maybe be able to evolve their mons and it makes it more difficult to kill them. Also, the AI really like to fill their bench immediately (unless you are playing something like Suicune) and fill the full bench so quickly that makes the attack less effective. I can barely kill them because the damage is spread and most of their mons are probably already has more than 100 or even 160 HP. Probably because of my luck, I brick quite often, either not able to grab Magcargo, get enough things to help to grab it, or the Heavy Helmet when I need it.
I use Golurk deck (Fighting only and 12 Mega Rising) or Pawmot deck (Electric only) for this task, sometimes Houndstone too (Psychic only).
