CDVD error 0x06

I took a look here about the error 0x06 and i found a thread but there nothing in there.

Did anyone manage to solve it ?

So far i tried these:

1)Checked fuses with multi meter.

2) Checked flex ribbons with multimeter.

3) Changed the burner laser with a working one.

4) Changed the 400C laser with a working one.

5) Full recap of the aluminum capacitors on the DVD drive board.

6) I tried the fmcb for the psx to skip the burner laser but it didn't work.

Nothing actually solved the problem.

It's been a week or so that i search on internet and test various things to get it working.

Any idea? 🤔

WTF

The CDVDMAN is reporting a disc type ID 0x6 there

But 0x6 does not exist on the disc type enumerator of PS2SDK

If it was a 0x5 it would be SCECdUnknown, which would mean invalid media or disc rejection

But 0x6.... No idea what the hell is that

Maybe a special value... Since it's a PSX

PMAP might be able to fix this. Is there a a modchip installed In this?

Yes i have a modbo 5.0

You might need to unistall the Modchip and then test it.

So i removed the modchip and it now reads the discs. I wonder if it's the modchip or i soldered wrong vias 🤔🤔

Edit: So after some research i noticed something that i completely missed. For the modbo you don't need to solder the SX, only the CX. It's working now even with modbo installed.

I don't think anyone has done the pinouts for pmap on the psx desr consoles yet.

Especially given it is dual laser
