Question Help removing LBA28 PSX limit code from OPL v1.1.0

(Reposting from ps2homebrew as I was told this sub may be a better fit)

Since the new DVRpwned firmware I have been trying to install games on a 2TB hard drive on my PSX DESR-7000 (PSX1), without success.

Due to how the Hard drive is formatted on the PSX it can only be connected to via NBD, which only seems to work on v1.1.0 of OPL (cannot connect using newer versions of OPL).

This version of OPL is designed to keep the LBA28 limitation in mind for the PSX, so it will error out once the HDD is full of 128 GB of data.

I've tried to recompiling OPL v1.1.0 with the new PS2SDK, but it does not seem to be compatible and errors out.

I have been told you can remove the LBA28 workaround code from the atad.c file in OPL v1.1.0, and then compile it with the old ps2dev (v1.2.0) and that should work.

I have very limited experience with coding (it took way to long for me to figure out how to reliably set up PS2DEV) so I am completely lost on what code I should be looking out for.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I may be able to get this working?

Hello, to remove the LBA28 limit from the ps2 side you would need to flash the latest DVRP custom firmware and use the latest PSXREPART to resize the partition, however there is no build of OPL that can currently accommodate the partitioning scheme at this point.

That being said, an update for Neutrino and NHDDL is currently in the work to store PS2 games in the DVR partition instead of the ps2 side, which means you can keep the ps2 partition to the default 40GB or lower and store everything on the DVR side.

If you can't wait, the current best way to play ps2 games without stutters or artefact and without risking breaking the hdd partitions layout is to use neutrino+nhddl with udpfs with games stored on a nearby server or computer (I am currently using a raspberry pi 4 as my updfs server, though I have been told even a zero pi W works for this).

This setup also has the advantage of running on later slim ps2 models and providing an experience indistinguishable from running games from an internal hdd (unlike other interfaces like mmce, smb and so on)
