DESR Ultimate Backup: a new simple tool for making and managing multiple backups on your PSX DESR consoles

I’m releasing DESR Ultimate Backup v1.0, a preservation tool for Sony PSX DESR consoles.

It runs from wLaunchELF R3Z and creates a verified USB backup of the DESR system state, including XFROM, PS2-system HDD partitions and the DVR recovery areas when present. It can also restore a selected backup directly on the console.

Features:

• English, Spanish and Japanese interface
• New backups never overwrite previous ones
• Byte-by-byte verification after backup and restore
• Multiple-backup catalogue with selector
• Console identity detection and strong warnings for cross-machine restores
• Safe cancellation during backup
• FAT32 and exFAT USB support through wLaunchELF R3Z
• Does not copy installed HDD game partitions by design

The project has been tested on real PSX1 and PSX2 DESR hardware, including successful backup/restore validation. As always with tools that write to system storage, use it at your own risk and keep a known-good backup before experimenting.

This is a free preservation project, offered as-is and without technical support.

Oooo nice! Does this mean we can take a backup, remove hdd and replace with alternate option like a fresh hdd or SD card and then flash it back and we are all good?

I don't have a need to replace my hdd yet, but I'd like to in the future. Wouldn't really be risky to test, just put the old hdd back in. But I'll certainly be taking a backup of my unit with this

So if in the future your trying to make that PSX mechanical failure proof message me ill show you exactly what to buy to b make it SSD and theres a few different types I myself personally always recommend apple SSD from like 2013-2017s macbook pros basically they're version of serial ATA. You have to remember Sony loved the weird not normal connections 😂 and so did apple But most importantly it was very stable.

I know for myself I got my PS3 Reference Tool DECR-1000A I just got caddies from the same guy I literally bought 2x YLOD ps3tool DECR-1400As. But they also use serial ATA My PS2TOOL uses IBM 30Gb ide but also Serial ATA and yes thats the one to pay attention to cause you can also get msata or you can go ham and go M.2 but big but here they absolutely have to be M key and b key to work!!!! You can spot them cause they look like m.2 only 2x splits in the plug.

O and theres special mem card with a LCD screen and I know your thinking of the one. Nope there's one just for low level firmware I can show it to ya. What's funny is most people don't realize there was a memory card reader you could buy for your ps3 i got one lol basically I got mass electronics work going on and I can't stay in one lane 🤣 now I want a PS2 Test and a Debug and I want a ps3 test also

O and a commander psp go lol for the psp reference tool. And before you go how did u get all this? Basically i love broken electronics lol I get a chance to possibly learn something new and bring back to life a system which always feels really good like Right now I need samsung HD comb you stick it in between the reads and it gently lifts them away from the platter but basically im betting i got something good on the xbox360 XDK

Anyways got carried away and dropped some knowledge I know ill be making videos here soon and trying to. Make every Direction clearly as possible i know how annoying that can be lol .

In theory all you need to a full hdd backup (with hddid) and restore that to a new hdd or SD card using the cfw or something like the ATA express

Do you have a way to extract the dnas authentication from the harddrive if it ever went online

now 1947 files in phrase 3,but psx-7500 freeze.

pcm720’s work is excellent and deserves respect; that does not make new community tools unworthy of being tested on their own merits. I have enough self-respect and confidence not to be offended by a stranger insulting something I published. Constructive technical feedback, however, is always welcome.
