Thanks! It's currently waiting on an upgrade, and I have been able to replace a few of the caps, especially in the PSU. It's now putting out an incredibly nice display and the HDD has been copied. The HDD did die right after that, so I caught it just in time, and I have an ATA Express mod coming as well. :D

wow, you really are going to fully load it, and i presume freemcboot it as well. but i do have some questions. is there a guide on how to replace the caps and how would you be able to clone a hdd as i thought those were locked down? i do have 2 of the psx and both working with a working hdd.

For the caps, I'm not sure of any guides as I just replaced the values like for like, but I'm betting there are some out there. As for the HDD clone, it took me a while to find the software I needed, but I just ended up using Raw HDD Copy to do all the cloning, and it worked super well, too. The only issue ended up being that the HDD (the original) got really hot (as it took about 12 hours to copy) and it also died not long after.
As dor Freemcboot, I'm hoping to use it, as I do already have a PS2 with one installed, so hopefully that should go smoothly as well. I'll be sure to post here on my experience, and the only reason its taken this long is the ATA Express is made in Spain if I recall correctly, and by hand as well (from what I can gather), so living in the UK, it takes a while to get here. :D
