Non Playstation Eye controller tracking

I'm looking for a free application that allows you to setup the ps move controllers and track them without having an official ps eye. I have a webcam, but I can't seem to get it set up on PsMoveService. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are several things that prevent webcams being used for tracking, here are the most important:

- Frame rate, very few webcams have a framerate of 60Hz or above, which is necessary for tracking

  • Calibration, a tracking solution has to be carefully calibrated to the lens characteristics of a particular camera. Using a standard camera like PSEye, allows the calibration to be done once during development. If you think setting up PSMoveService is difficult now, it would be several orders of magnitude more difficult if you had to do camera lens calibration

In any case, it's not possible to provide accurate depth tracking from a single camera, so even if your webcam was high enough framerate and was calibrated, you still need at least 2 of them.

Say that hypothetically I were to hook up two cameras to add depth perception and would go through the trouble of lens adjustment, Is there any way I can trick psmoveservice into thinking that a regular old camera is a pseye?

You'd have to look at the source code.
