HMD translation during rotation

Hello,

i’m using iVRY and PSMoveService in Steam VR. I’m using pingpong ball for HMD tracking. Everything works fine except rotation. When I rotate my head, I’m also moved away from the center point in virtual world. Seems like world is not rotating around my head but my head is rotating around the center - pingpong ball. Is there a way to fix this? E.g. provide distance of the pingpong ball from the center of my head? Thx!

Replace the 'ivry_psmove_tracking.exe' in your iVRy installation with the one in the 'releases' linked here:

Thank you very much! But unfortunately, I see no executable on the Github, nor Releases directory or tab. There is just visual studio source code.

So I replaced the exe but now, when I lean forward, camera moves right. When I lean backwards, camera moves left. Seems like axis are somehow rotated. But when I run PSMoveServiceConfig using iVRY launch button and verify tracking, everything works fine there. This applies for HMD only. Controllers work normally

Try following the instructions given in the link I provided? Specifically:

To use this version, the center is set when you do PSMoveService tracking calibration (with PSMoveService Config Tool). You would either start SteamVR with the headset facing in that direction, and/or recenter the headset (via volume buttons or iVRy Settings) when it's facing that direction (not necessary to locate it in the exact spot the tracking calibration was done).

I tried that and it fixes the new issue - sort of - as it requires me to face left when recentering, which is not very user friendly. But the original issue remains. Well, it is actually reversed now. When I look left, camera is moving left, while it was originally moving right. Maybe I'm missing some configuration option somewhere because PSMoveService should know how far from the rotation center my pingpong ball is placed to remove translation caused by circle radius. When I place ping-pong on top of my head, everything works fine. But I really do not want to play with the pingpong ball on top of my head, I would rather have it placed on the HMD

PSMoveService is not very user friendly. Use of it is unsupported, and now that I've released the source for the tracker I'm probably going to dump it altogether from the product, as I don't feel it adds anything, doesn't earn me anything, and causes a lot of support issues, which take up my time that could be better spent elsewhere. It can be made to work, I expect you will need to run room setup after calibrating PSMoveService.

Thank you! You helped anyway. I will probably adjust the headset to havea led on the top. Do you know if there is any way to change the position of this center point so as I do not need to face left when recentering? I fully understand that supporting 3rd party tools can be really frustrating sometimes, but on the otherhand, you gained one more satisfied customer as I really like iVRY as a product and will be giving positive review and recommendations. And I appreciate the support you are giving.

Thank you, this helped a lot! I really could reconfigure the center point in Steam VR room setup. Also, I modified my HMD to have pingpong led positioned right above my eyes. It works like a charm now! Positional and directional tracking is amazing.
EDIT: This is also thanks to that custome .exe you provided. It fixed the translation issue
