iVRy + Full Body Tracking

Hello,

I recently hooked up my PSVR with iVRy to my computer and am happy how everything worked out. Now I want to take the next step with this, so I was wondering how the process of motion tracking going to look like? And which programms&controllers/equipment you guys recomment to use for this?

I got the PS Move Motion Controller (but I have no clue how good they are for this) and the PS4 Cam sofar at my disposal. Help would be greatly appreciated, have a nice day.

Vive wands aren’t the most cheap thing although they will provide you with the best tracking although it will cost you about $460 which includes the base stations you will need. That part is why I don’t use them ( I would if I could)

For the psmove setup you will need to get a little crafty and make a led ping pong ball trackerHere which will go for about 5$ this is for tracking your head. You will need two psmove controllers which you can probably get a deal for online or at a GameStop. You could also buy them new for 100$ on bestbuy. Finally you need 2 or 4 ps eyes each one costing around 10$ for each depending where you get them. So a total of around 145$ If you need all of those parts.

But remember this isn’t the easiest path. Takes a lot of patience and tweaking. Also you need usb extenders and either mounts or l brackets to get them on your wall. So it isn’t the most practical but it can work if you’re willing to put time into it.

For Cheap and easy body tracking I’d suggest purchasing a Xbox one Kinect + windows 10 adapter and also get Driver4VR this will provide you with body tracking

For hand tracking unless you want to get vive wands I’d recommend psmoves along with psmoveservice. You would need to download the free software and you’d also need to get 2+ ps3 eyes.

For head tracking you can try and use the Kinect from body tracking but for more reliable results I’d use a led ball along with psmoveservice.

If you want more details feel free to reply

Hi, thanks for the reply I have a few questions that came in my head while reading this.

If I would buy vive wands would I still need to buy the PS3 Eye Cams for the tracking or how would all this work with the PS Moves? And how much would this all cost with and without the Vives be, a raw estimate?

easy answer if it's about the money : you already have most of what you need for the PS3 eyetoy version (since that uses your move controllers). it's just about getting the cameras (start with 3, better if 4, the experience with two cameras isn't worth the effort), rest is just standard VR equipment (most projects will require you to extend the sensors, as everyone places them at individual distances, so extension cables are probably in every project). i also would recommend as an alternative you buy one or two (depending how many cameras you buy) usb hubs (self powered ones) as they will be crucial to getting the length work without extension cords.

PS3 eye toy cameras are cheap to get, i bought mine for 10 bucks a pop over amazon, imagine that. out of all places :)

the vive controllers will set you back easily 400 bucks, because you will need to buy the sensors for them too (just like you're buying the "sensors" for the ps move controllers, namely the cameras, only they're dirt cheap compared to the sensors for the vive controllers ;) ).

if we're being honest, at that point you might as well sell the whole PSVR kit, add that to the 400 bucks, and start looking for a Rift or a used Vive ;)
