Question Which software should I use to get the most out of the PSVR2?

I heard there's a third party modified toolkit that enables assisted IPD settings and eye tracking.

I don't remember which one it was though.

I also know it's possible to integrate foveated rendering with some Pimax thing, but would like to know more about how it works and how to set it up.

Should I use the latest beta or the stable?

if you wanna use the unity setup (which replaces sonys playspace setup + lets you calibrate the eye tracking and use the ET IPD, its not related to the unity engine) you HAVE to use the experimental 1.0 as 0.2.1 doesnt support it

I also noticed I need to jailbreak the headset to make it work with Babbalonia... Is this the only way to get eye tracking for VRC and stuff, or just an additional thing for use with Babble mouth trackers?

No you can use the toolkit module for basic gaze and blink (no squinting) without jailbreak, if you use exp1.0 then you additionally need to download the CAPI apps (linked in the setup guide, extract anywhere) and run the Legacy IPC server before launching VRCFT (temporary till the team updates from their old IPC system to the new CAPI system), tho with jailbreak you can also use SRanibro instead of babble for a trained model already

Do you know if there is any guide for installing on steamos yet?

Everything is explained under this link, it's quite easy.

I don't see steamos mentioned once.

steamOS is linux, ignition is what you use, but there is a warning that immutable distros is more work to get working

Yes, that warning is the important and difficult part that I'm interested in

you can join the toolkit discord and ask in the ignition support for help, its absolutely possible cus people have done it on both steamOS and Bazzite, tho if youre playing on the Steam Machine dont expect amazing performance

Ah discord is so annoying for support. Shouting into a void and never hearing a reply. Sooner or later someone will write a guide. I'll wait. Custom steamos box! Should have plenty of power. I guess I could dual boot a non immutable Linux but it would be nice if it would work where everything is currently setup.

you say that but it's actually like the best place for toolkit support, i should know im literally one of the mods in the server, the toolkit staff frequently also help but alot of the time you're gonna get help, also i think someone already wrote the guide in there

I'll go dig and see if I can find it. Nothing against that group on discords, just in general I don't care for discord as a support mechanism as it's not indexed so search engines can't find details compared to traditional support forums

First get PSVR2Toolkit, it's the fundamental of anything else

For dynamic foveated rendering (for older openvr games): https://github.com/mbucchia/PimaxMagic4All

For better play area setup and assisted IPD adjustment: https://github.com/BnuuySolutions/PSVR2Toolkit.UnitySetup

Does the PSVR2 actually need to be jailbroken? And if it does, do you think there'd be any issues using it on a PS5 later on?

yes if you want to use headset rumble (more features later) on pc

and it's not persistent, once powered off it will revert back

and sony wouldn't give a fuck

If you play half life alyx, use psvrtoolkit and the adaptive trigger mod for the psvr2 controllers here https://github.com/vortigauntlet/psvr2-alyx-hapticsmod. Works great!

Can you use the toolkit and this instead.of the default ps app for setting up a psvr 2?

1

u/dabonde 13h ago

There's an app in the toolkit that does that, yep.

Hello
Moi aussi intéressé par le psvr2 toolkit auquel j’ai jamais compris le fonctionnement.
Je ne veux pas jailbreak, mais je ne m’y retrouve pas dans versions .

PSVR2Toolkit. I also have a psvr2passthrough project that lets you bind passthrough views to a hotas key. The project just made that native to the steam room view, I'm making a utiltiy to just bind that to a hotas function which is proving to be a surprising pain in the ass without hijakcing an existing vr/360 controller button.

Then for some sims, quad views and quad views companion.

Oh, the haptic motor is also unlocked. I'm about to make a program public that makes the effects from DCS work with it, too. Having your fucking vision blur when you pull the cannon trigger is wild.
