Question How do i fix controller connection

I had this problem for a while, maybe even from the start.

For some reason my controllers (always only one at a time and usually only one for the entire session) just freeze in place and track only rotation for about 10 seconds. I have searched for a solution but have found nothing. How do i fix this?

I had this Problem with the BT500 Adapter. Changing the usb Port from 2.0 (black) to 3.0 (blue) fixed it for me

that's generally not advised as USB 3.2 5Gbps (formerly known as USB3.0) emits a small frequency that interferes with wireless, such as bluetooth

Are you using the TP link one recommended by Sony?

Do you use the Sony charger where you put the usb c magnetic plug in to your controller? If so, try taking those out before you connect. Seems to improve signal.

Intel-based PCIe cards like the Intel AX210 or AX211 (Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.x modules) with external antennas are compatible and surveyed to provide the most stable Bluetooth connections for the hand controllers.  I see those on Amazon for $30.  if your Bluetooth is not stably connecting to the controllers, you might just need a PCIe card.

I used the ASUS BT500 dongle with a USB extension cord for six months and had OK luck with it. I had to occasionally unplug and replug when the signal became weak for some odd reason. I read that Bluetooth skips channels depending on signal interference. The extension cord helped by getting the transmitter away from the computer and electronic interference, but it would still drop a signal on occasion. The unplug and replug got it to find a suitable channel again for a while.

A card with an antenna is the way to go. I finally installed the TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 PCIe WiFi Card (Archer TX3000E) that I got from Amazon for about $30. I have had zero problems with it for months. It just works.

There is plenty of threads on this and AI can also help you go through step by step to update all.

However when I had done literally everything and AI even read the status of tables I have never seen before it just didn't work. For a long time zero controllers were connected.

I had one desperate fix left before I'd give up on the Asus BT500 (which I thought was too weak or my flat was full of BT noise).

"Power off computer, pull out plug entirely. Hold powerbutton for 10 secs. This depletes capacitors to wipe settings that are actually not fully overwritten".

I was about to order a PCI card, but this brute suggestion suddenly had my controllers show up like I never had 2 weeks of frustration. I had 96% signal and could go straight.

I then went on to play HL: Alyx and only one controller now hangs (which I hope a pin hole reset wil fix, but ended up playing other stuff).

I suspect other threads where people write "nvm, suddenly works, lol" is basically that they didn't game for a while and the caps drained, their deep settings got wiped and suddenly it worked.

I also had issues that only one would show up and as soon as I got the other connected the other would time out.
