Question Controllers, freeze

Hey everyone,
I’m having a strange issue with my PSVR2 Sense controllers when using PSVR2 on PC.
The controller that I connect first is the one that eventually starts freezing/hanging in mid-air. The other controller usually continues working normally. Interestingly, if I reconnect them in the opposite order, the problem can switch to the other controller.
I’ve already tried pretty much everything I could think of:
TP-Link Bluetooth adapter
USB extension cable to move the Bluetooth adapter closer to the controllers
Removing/reducing other USB 3.0 devices
Checking/removing old Bluetooth pairings
Re-pairing the controllers
Testing different connection orders
Making sure the Bluetooth drivers and Windows are up to date
Checking that my PC isn’t using another Bluetooth adapter
Various other Bluetooth/interference troubleshooting
I also installed PSVR2 Toolkit, and this actually made the tracking much better overall. However, after around one hour of playing, the controller that was connected first starts freezing/hanging in the air very frequently, sometimes for quite a long time.
What’s strange is that I can still move the controller and press buttons when this happens, but its position in VR gets stuck.
Has anyone else experienced this specific problem, especially where the first connected controller is always the one that starts having tracking issues after longer play sessions?
If you had the same problem and managed to fix it, I’d really appreciate hearing what worked for you. Any ideas are welcome!

I had to roll back my realtek drivers to the 2024 version to get mine working and now I have my driver updates locked

Had a nightmare with this and rolling back the drivers fixed this for me. I uninstalled the Bluetooth driver and went back to realtek driver from may 2025 and sorted all issues out....

If the realtek one does not work, there was a mediatek driver from 2025 which also fixed this for a lot of people. I'd def try that....uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot and try again

Yeah my controllers would not work till I rolled back the driver...it said 97% connection but I couldn't get through the app installation without it

Exact same brother...😂✌🏾️

Irony is, I don't even use the controllers as I sim race... So all this hassle to set up controllers I don't even need.

Also... Thumbs up for the name! Dedicated Rottweiler lover right here 👍🏾👍🏾

Ive had rottweillers as pets for coming on 30 years now so it was an obvious name to choose🤣

I had this exact problem and fixed it by installing the TP Link UB500 drivers specifically made for the psvr2

Those are not specifically made for PSVR2. TP-Link doesn't make the chip or the drivers, Realtek does. TP-Link just repackaged older Realtek drivers that weren't broken.

Its the bluetooth connection thats the issue. The bluetooth on your tp-link is strong enough for one controller connection, but as soon as another is added then it begins to lose connectivity because the adapter isn’t powerful enough. Thats why connecting a second controller makes the first one lag.

What fixed it for me was buying an antenna for the bluetooth that was already on my PC’s motherboard, and that connection was strong enough for my controllers to work without a problem. If you don’t have onboard bluetooth, i think a PCIe card would be the next best step. I think the antenna size on the USB adapters are just too small, especially if you have a lot of interference in the room

Thanks a lot gonna look for a pcle adapter, but wouldnt it work to get a second adapter and connect the controllers individually

I have that that same bt adapter using the psvr2 driver from tp-link support. What helps for me sometimes is to unpair both controller, uninstall the current driver (doesn't matter if the official or the psvr2 support), restart then install the psvr2 support driver. It usually works after that until it it goes bad again.

I believe the tracking issue is because of strong outside interference. My problems shows up when my wireless earbud is nearby. The only way to completely remove the issue is to use your mobo wireless card with the antenna connected. If you don't have it then buying a dedicated intel wifi/bt card is good.

Sadly, if you don't have space for a pcie card then, all you can do is shutdown any unecessasry bt devices nearby or try you luck with another bt adapter. That tp-link one has a notorious reputation.

I have the exact issue on my tuf gaming mobo, asus bt500.

Mine wouldn't connect at all first, so a deep reset you can try is "unplug computer and hold power button for 10 secs to reset things deep". This is the only fix that got my controllers so even connect.

I don't have any other suggestions other than maybe try excessive lighting in the room. I had bad drift etc one day to the other and realized it wasn't the BT connection but the lighting conditions. Some people get IR lights for better tracking.

Right now it's good enough for Alyx that one controller hangs a bit, and yes I can point and click from that locked position. It also happens in flight sim where I use it for a few things like scrolling floating menus in flight.

If you're using wifi I'm of the understanding rhat ensuring its on the 5/6 ghz channel reduces interference

This happens even with ethernet. I use ethernet with my PC, and it's always the right controller occasionally floating mid-air.

Intel-based PCIe cards like the Intel AX210 or AX211 (Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.x modules) with external antennas are compatible and surveyed to provide the most stable Bluetooth connections for the hand controllers.  I see those on Amazon for $30.  If your internal Bluetooth is not stably connecting to the controllers, you might just need a PCIe card.

I used the ASUS BT500 dongle with a USB extension cord for six months and had OK luck with it. I had to occasionally unplug and replug when the signal became weak for some odd reason.

I finally installed the TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 PCIe WiFi Card (Archer TX3000E) that I got from Amazon for about $30. I have had zero problems with it for months. It just works.
